Stern Ranking

Is stern getting better each year in rankings? Is the status of the school improving?

stern has always been at the top of the undergrad-b school rankings. usually around the top 5 in the country.

but the rankings are all different from different sources. There's teh US News rankings, the Business Week rankings...there's plenty. But many people believe that Stern is 2nd, only to Wharton, which is the undisputed #1.

thats what i always thought it was (#2)

I visited MIT this weekend. The admissions person said it was one of only two top ten ** undergraduate** business programs. So what is the real rank?

According to U.S. News 2005, Sloan@MIT is #2 and Stern@NYU is #5.

i would put it wharton, sloan, stern in terms of general perception/prestigiousness

yeah, but that's US News...
most other sources consider US News a joke, like Business Weekly.

Sloan is more of a theory based business school, as opposed to Stern, which is not (not really sure what Stern is...because it's unique)

Stern also happens to be in NYC...Sloan at MIT can not offer that...

Stern's location, makes it unique. Obviously in prestige the Wharton name is maybe a few ounces heavier than the Stern name, but if you tell your boss you graduated from Stern, and not Wharton, it will not make one bit of a difference, do not stress, just decide which location you would rather have to supplement your education.

um, there is a little school named chicago that could destroy NYU business. There are also some unfamiliar schools by the name of Harvard, Stanford and Princeton that trump NYU in the econ/finance realm.

4f, we're talking undergrad b-schools, although Chicago has arguably the top economics program in the country, economics is still very different from business. None of the schools you named have undergrad business schools. MBAs, obviously, are a different story.

"um, there is a little school named chicago that could destroy NYU business."

Um, no there isn't.

"um, there is a little school named chicago that could destroy NYU business."

you could make a case that a chicago mba might be slightly better than a stern mba but chicago doesnt even have an undergrad business program.

Chicago was ranked #1 or #2 in Econ but then thats ECON..... I don't want to diss any U Chic Students but I have NEVER heard of U Chic until I found this site....Now I realize how good it is but to the majority of the public that has no knowledge in academics, U Chicago sounds like a community college.....

Harvard and Princeton??? you gotta be joking me...

Stanford, yes, as far as i know, has a very nice business program...but not the other o.O
