Stern Sunday at the Square

Hi everyone,

I wasn't able to attend the Sunday at the Square yesterday for Stern students. I'm just wondering, for those of you who did go, was there anything important or interesting that happened? (besides the large amounts of asian people, I assume that might be partly because a lot more people from the nyc area went and nyc has a larger pecentage of asian people than the whole of america does.) did they explain the stern scholar program more because i'm wondering what exactly it entails?

thanks!

I'll tell you two aspects that amazed me about Stern...first, every senior who i talked to or who presented has an investment banking or some other prestigious financial job at a major firm lined up for next year. So, Stern really does deliver when it comes to Wall Street recruiting.

Second...the Scholars Program gives away a ton of free stuff. They hook you up with subsidized trips to Europe, free tickets to Broadway shows, restaurants...the whole NYC international culture. Its incredible how much resources they're pouring into this program. Before i went, i was picking between Dartmouth and Cornell. Now, i'm seriously considering Stern.

Remember, that to keep your Stern Scholar status as a sophomore, junior etc., you have to maintain a 3.5 gpa.....and that is no easy feat at Stern.

are you serious? that's crazy
it was mentioned in one of the other threads that the avg gpa is about 2.7 at stern and a 3.0+ is solid.
does this mean the number of stern scholars slowly dwindle down?
do you go to nyu or nyu stern rite now chocoholic?

I am a parent, but that was the answer given by the Dean of Admissions. So they invite you to be a Stern Scholar based on your high gpa, and then expect you to keep up the gpa.
I don't really know how hard it is to keep a 3.5 at Stern....

thanks chocoholic,
i hope they chose correctly :)
