I want to major in Econ and then end up doing something in business later on.

My question is should I apply to Stern ED (which would be a toss up at best) or to CAS ED where I would most likely get in.

My Stats are
4.0W, 3.7UW (I did get a C in math this year which hurts Stern chances even more)
32 ACT
Strong ECS

Is Stern worth the risk? Or is the Econ program in CAS just as good? Would it equally prepare me for a career in business?
Could I then get into Stern for graduate school after studying in CAS?

Well, CAS has an econ major, but Stern is where you’d want to be if you’re looking into business as a career. This issue comes up a lot and most of the time it makes sense to just go for broke and apply to Stern if that’s where you want to be.

If you like NYU in general, then maybe you should apply to CAS. If you specifically like Stern, then why settle for CAS when you can focus on other schools?

CAS Econ is a liberal arts major, more theory-based, great if you want an advanced degree in Econ or want to work in the field of Economics, whereas Stern Econ is a vocational major, you’ll learn directly about business and more real-world applications. So pick whatever you like because you’ll regret it down the road if you can’t study what you like. Also, of course you can study CAS-Econ and still go into the Business world but in your case, I’d advise Stern since that’s what you want.

Thanks for the help.

Do you guys think that a +720 score on the SAT II Math could make up for or at least help with that C in Math (Pre Cal) my junior year?

A 720 SAT II Math Score is good but not for top schools because there is a beneficial curve that allows people to get a few wrong and still end up with an 800. If you look at the SAT Math II subject test percentiles a 720 is 69th percentile which is kind of low.
