I am applying early to NYU(new york). I wanna study business, but i think it would be too competitive. plus i might study something else like bio.. also i heard it is more competitive for business majors to get in.

would it be a wiser move to apply to college of arts and science and explore the field as undecided?? will there be any harmful effects?

Also would you say transfering from College of Arts and Science is more difficult than getting admission from the Stern>?

I suggest you to apply directly to Stern if a business career is your goal. You can still be an undecided major related to business in Stern. While it is competitive, good things are that way. It is just as competitive in CAS except it can accept a larger number of students. However, more students apply to CAS as well so it may counter out that too. The only harmful effect is you must internally transfer to Stern. Your application and high school grades will still be reviewed anyway, except your NYU grades will also be included in the review as well. It is said to be very hard to internally transfer but I seen some who got in.

Since you like biology too, you may want to consider Gallatin. At Gallatin, you can take courses in any school you want, including Stern courses.

Since you like biology and perhaps business too, you may want to apply Gallatin. Gallatin accepts lower GPAs than stern but also rejects 4.0s too. The only thing is your writing MUST BE REALLY STRONG to be admitted into Gallatin.
