I'm somewhat stuck in a bind. I can't decide between the two, even though I realize that they are polar opposites in terms of location and atmosphere. For someone who wants to go to law school and business school to get a JDMBA, which school would be more helpful? Does Stern (or NYU in general) place well into law schools?

I would say Duke is better for the way you want to go. However you have better internship opps in nyc. I'm going to Stern next year and that'll get you a great job or into a great biz school but I dunno about law. Tough decision.

I was torn between Duke and Stern too and I'm choosing Stern. But my case is a bit different from yours because I'm set on doing finance after graduation. Well, I'm sure there will be plenty of good lawfirm internships available in NYC for NYU students, and NYU graduate school of law is pretty good.. so.. well I guess it depends on what kind of environment you'd prefer.

anyone know law students who went to Stern? there seems to be an interesting production minor with Tisch which I hear could be helpful with entertainment law...any one have any ideas? I really need to be convinced one way or the other at this point

Compare financial aid/scholarship offers. And promise yourself that you'll go to the school which wants you more.

teampakistan, thanks. i'm still waiting on the financial aid info, my dad couldn't do his taxes for 2007 until yesterday. Worst case scenario, if I get no aid to either, what should i do?

You know you may think I'm being biased here but I think you should choose Stern for the following reasons:

While getting a first-class business education at Stern, you can minor in "Law and Society" at CAS.
For both law and business, NYC has unparalleled internship opps.

Good luck.
