Hi, I am an international student looking to study in the US. I applied to a few schools in the US, and have been accepted to Northwestern (Weinberg), Stern (NYU) and Tepper School of Business (CMU). My first choice was Penn but I was rejected
I am looking to read either Economics in NU, or Finance/Business in NYU and CMU. I was wondering if I could get some constructive advice on which schools would provide the best INTERNSHIP opportunities and possibly future CAREER PROSPECTS in the finance industry.
I understand that while NU is ranked considerably higher than the other 2 schools overall, NYU would grant me greater access to networking opportunities. Not too sure about Tepper, except that they have a great Computational Finance course.
I am not too concerned with having a close-knitted campus or having a âholistic college experienceâ. Cost concerns are also secondary. My main question is which school would grant me the best chances at securing internships and jobs in the future?
For finance, thereâs probably no better school than NYU Stern. It also makes sense for internships with Wall Street down the road. Since you say you donât care much about âholistic college experienceâ (i.e. Northwestern) I would pick Stern if you for sure you know you want to do finance.
@WildestDream I am paying full, so if 2 schools are equalled then I would pick the cheaper of the 2. But of course, if NYU is substantially better I wouldnât mind paying more.
My daughter is graduating from NYU and all of her friends that were in Stern had amazing internships and full time jobs secured for after graduation by December of senior year. Good luck wherever you choose!
My other alternative would be to apply to Cambridge (Economics) or London School of Economics (Economics/Finance), considering that they are far more affordable. Would these schools be better than Stern/NU in terms of reputation/networks?
