Stern VS Ross

What do you guys think? I think that the only downside is that you get into stern your freshman year and get into Ross your 2nd year (unless a preadmit).

They are about the same. If you want IB, NYU may have a slight edge, but the difference is miniscule. Go with fit.

That's about right Collegebound. Ross is a bit of a risk whereas Stern is a sure bet. However, once at Ross, I think it is a better overall experience than Stern.

I just dont like the idea of risking it (isnt it about 47% at Ross) becuase I am OOS and my parents would be pretty upset if I did not get in.

But I will probably end up taking that chance....

It is definitely risky, but I think the risk is worth taking given the potential reward. Life at NYU just isn't as fun as life at Michigan.

Just study really hard your first year and you should be fine. If you got into Stern, you should be able to get into Ross.

GO TO TEPPER- great school, small classes(only<400 students) and great job placement

Tepper is focused on a highly quantitative curriculum. It's not as well-rounded. It's closer to engineering than to business.

untrue, Tepper is well rounded, plus math ande computer skills which are the future of bussiness

Maybe, but not math and computer skills at the expense of other, soft skills. Otherwise, you'll just end up in the back-office. Math/computer skills alone will not get you very far. Anyway, Tepper is a good school that the OP should check out.

yup redhare got that right. BW report said that employers said that tepper kids have great business knowledge but are a bit lacking in the soft skills

bump! since this is currently my problem as well. i'm leaning towards stern however since ihavne't heard from ross preadmit yet.

Mich_GIRL, it is probably harder to get into Ross pre-admit than it is to get into Wharton. I would not base my decision solely on successfully getting pre-admitted into Ross if I were you. I think you should take other things into consideration, such as fit, finances, overall undergraduate experience, etc... If all of those favor Stern, by all means go for it. However, to decide purely on whether or not you get pre-admitted would be rash. The fact is, most Ross students are admitted into the program only after they have enrolled into the University of Michigan and completed their entire Freshman year. The odds of getting into Ross the traditional way are significantly better than getting into Ross pre-admit.

I would be going to Stern IF I it was actually worth the money to go there. However, Mich = in-state, so the decision was quite easy (even after I got accepted to Stern today :P). Plus Mich spots > NYU. Only reason why I liked NYU was cause I could have played D3 tennis there too...
