i got into stern and preadmitted into ross, but cant decide where to go.
considering both an academic standpoint, and the social scene at both schools, which would be a better choice?
any thoughts would be helpful

Depends what you want to do. Both have excellent placement in IB (although Stern is arguably better). But Ross gets consulting firms, which do not come to NYU at all. Ross is more of the "college" experience--sports, frat parties, keggers. NYU is a city experience--you're pretty much in the center of the universe. personal preference really, both are excellent programs.

Did you get into Stern Scholars' Program? If not, getting preadmitted into Ross is much bigger a deal. I'd say, overall, Ross is slightly better than Stern.

Go to Stern. Michigan is cold as hell...

The Business programs are roughly equal. Ross is maybe more well-rounded, but Stern is excellent too. I would chose based on fit. Do you prefer the NYU environment or the Michigan environment?

Ross over Stern.

both are excellent programs and will get you where you want to be upon graduate, so it all depends on what kind of experience you want.

for example, public vs private, campus vs city, location, social scene, etc.

Can anyone please tell me the prerequisites/requirements for Stern as a transfer student? Economics, accounting, etc etc. Thanks!

it's on the website.

I don't think in the case of Michigan and NYU, private vs public applies. Michigan is not a typical public. It has an endowment of $6 billion (7th largest in the nation) and the feel of a private university. And NYU is not a typical private university. It has an endowment of $1.5 billion and a student population of 50,000 (20,000 of which are undergrads).

Yeah forgiven, I know it's on the site, but for some reason I just can't find it. Can you or someone please give me the website?

thx for the input. for me it comes down to campus vs city life. can anyone elaborate on the major differences especially regarding social life. i love goin out and having a good time but i feel its more difficult to go out at nyu. is this tru?

Kaziz, I think you should really consider Ross. There more options available in terms of careers. Stern will only give you finance related jobs, so if you want consulting, you're out of luck. I have a few friends who are at Michigan/Ross right now, and they only have good things to say about the social/party life. I also have friends at Stern who say that their social life isn't that great mainly because they are ALWAYS working. I think you should really consider Ross over Stern - DAN
