So I know this discussion has been brought up in the past on older threads but I wanted to get fresh opinions from anyone on CC whose knowledgeable (or maybe even attends) these programs.

I'm really interested in undergrad business and I got into both NYU Stern and Tepper. I'm on the waitlist at several ivies, but I'm happy that I got into these programs since they are pretty competitive. At Stern I'm in for Finance, and at Carnegie Mellon I got into both Tepper and the college of humanities and social sciences (econ). I know that they are pros and cons to both programs, but I'm curious as to which program would yield me the best job opportunities and career placement in the future. How does Stern compare to Cornell AEM (I'm on the waitlist at Cornell and I know my chances are extremely low but I'm curious)?

To me this is not even close. STERN STERN STERN. It has the #2 ranked finance program in the country, which you want to study. And the real grabber is the recruiting/job placement. Along with Wharton, Harvard, and Michigan (Ross), Stern has one of the best (Top 5) names on Wall Street, so getting an interview for an internship and setting yourself up for a job would be helped out tremendously by having that Stern name. Employers know what they get from Stern students, since Stern is basically a machine for Wall Street employees.

Tepper is good, I think its got a business program ranked in the 20’s somewhere, but it’s not in the same category as Stern.

You’re question about Cornell AEM. Econ is pretty similar for both NYU (Arts and Sciences) and Cornell. NYU Arts and Sciences has an Econ program ranked #5-10 in the country now and I believe Cornell is somewhere right around there also. They are similar. Good Luck with Cornell

Stern typically outdoes AEM in terms of placement in finance. They’re roughly on par, but we’re known as a finance factory and send more kids into IBD than they do. It’s a great name but it’s known within finance as the lowest Ivy and gets treated as such.

Tepper is a great program but doesn’t compare to Stern. CMU places very well for finance out of its engineering programs but not so strongly out of Tepper.
