This is my first post on CC and i have had a great time reading posts however i felt like it was my turn to bring up a question. I have been admitted to NYU's Stern Business school with the scholars program, UC Berkeley school of Natural Resources, and UCLA's L&S.

For the longest time, my dream has been to go to Berkeley in hopes of getting into Haas. However, NYU's Stern is phenomenal and UCLA's Westwood area highly interests me.

I plan on majoring in International Business. As far as tuition costs go, i have not recieved scholarships from any of the schools, and although my parents are willing to dish out the cash for NYU, in my heart i feel as if i can have the same success at UCB or UCLA.

I would really like to transfer to L&S at Berkeley, as i do not want to pursue a career in forestry -_-. Is this plausible?

CHanging from Natural Resouces to L&S is not a problem... remember though you don't apply until 2nd or 3rd year for Haas... 60% (approx) acceptance rate. Cal has lots of other options though.. Good luck with your decision.

If I had parents that would pay for me to live in New York for 4 years I'd go there in a heart beat. I think that academics aren't the issue because Cal, UCLA and Stern are all good, so you should think about all the other things that make up a college experience. Did I mention how great it would be to live in New York for 4 years?

You should visit each campus and get a feel for which atmosphere/environment you prefer the most. Honestly, UCLA, Berkeley, and Stern are all great schools with good business opportunities. Many businesses make it a point to stop at all three during their On-Campus Recruiting so in terms of the prestige of the names they're about on par. I think it's a plus to have a guaranteed admittance into Stern's business program (is that how it works?) vs. the uncertainty of having to apply to Haas and going against all the pre-business people (however if you think you can do it then go for it!). However as a point of favor for Berkeley, I don't believe that NYU can match Cal in the variety of academics fact since if you look at the Grad school rankings Cal is consistently in the top 10 for a boatload of subjects. Very useful in case you decide to Business isn't your cup of tea. Also you cannot beat the in-state fees!
