My sister was accepted into Stern and she is having a hard deciding which school to pick. Could current students in Stern tell me please about the environment? I heard it was somewhat cutthroat (compared to Ross), but I don't know if this is really the case. Also, are Stern students allowed to double major, say in CAS? Your help would be very appreciated.

Does anyone know much about Stern’s atmosphere?

Any input would be appreciated. I read through the above post about Stern but it’s dated (2007). I have to say it doesn’t make NYU/Stern sound very appealing. All that clubbing and drinking and bravado. NYC is an expensive place and my sister wants to study and get good grades. Is this perhaps the wrong environment for regular college kids who don’t plan on going out every night and spending lots of money? Does NYU/Stern value academia or is it more about the “material”, such as being cool or bragging. Seems a little arrogant. Kind of disappointed , I thought Stern was different.

Its work hard play hard atmosphere. People go out a lot on the weekends and study a lot on weekdays and when its time for exams.
