I was looking on wikipedia and saw that Stern's acceptance rate is the lowest of the undergraduate schools of NYU. it also said that one year, the acceptance rate was around 8%, and another year it was 20%.. so which is the real one?

(praying 20%)

and also, i was on NYU's board forum thing on the website, and a moderator said that they take the higher section scores from the ACT from each time you take it. Can anyone back this up?

its not 8% for sure. i think it might be even higher than 20%. this topic has been debated here before, wikipedia isn't always accurate, and in this case, the 8% is false.

Basically, people think the acceptance rate is 8% because that's how many applicant attend Stern. There are about 2300 undergrads at Stern, so let's say about 600 freshman. Let's say 8,000 applied to Stern, so people think 600 slots, then they have to accept about 8% of those people. However, they accept many more people than they have slots for -- about 3 times as much. So it's about a 22% acceptance rate we'll say. Very low, yes, and lower than the schoolwide 28%.

Stern's acceptance rate is around 28%. The schoolwide acceptance rate is around 30-37% depending on who you ask. I presume it's around in the mid-30% range.

There are 600 freshmen at Stern, and then there were around 6200 applications. Because of the 30% yield, they admitted around 1800 people.

Cardinal - Thanks for editing the wikipedia entry because I think whoever wrote it actually believed that the admissions committee only accepted 500 people and they all attended. I saw it before and knew it was wrong but I didn't want to edit it because I didn't have the correct statistics.
