Stetson's Leave... effects on upcoming admissions?

I was wondering how Stetson's leave and the new interim Dean of Admissions will affect the admissions for this year.

Not at all.

The new admissions guy (Kaplan) has promised to use the "eeny, meeny, miney, mo" selection approach for the class of 2012.

Are you sure that it won't have any effect? because I read in a book that the Dean has the final say in every admissions and makes all the main decisions... is this not so for Penn?

LOOOL. i like the eeni-mini-mo approach. haha.... you're kidding right?

The new interim director, Eric Kaplan, worked in the Penn admissions office for many years before he became admissions director at Lehigh for 3 years so I don't think there will be any major changes...

Any changes this year or next year? Not likely. Longer term, like 5 or more years down the road? Maybe. Look at what Stetson did - the recruiting of diversity and people from other areas (not the PA/NY/NJ deal). That didn't happen overnight, and those are the kinds of things the dean has sway over.

The one exception I see: getting rid of ED for EA. Maybe next year (I suppose it's too late for this year), as some people are suggesting Stetson's preference for ED is what got him canned. But that's just speculation.
