Stevens Class of 2018

Hello ! Just started this thread to post information on the school, advice on housing and classes and just basically get to meet before it all starts.

Eva (Lancaster, PA)

Jennifer from Long Island, New York.
I was accepted ED1, and as long as financial aid works out, Hoboken will be home come next fall. I’m going in for Mechanical Engineering, and eventually want to go into nanotechnology. I’m so excited haha!

I plan on going into a civil/mechanical engineering field as well, with a concentration in green technology. Hear anything on the housing situation, like best dorm/which rooms give you a view of NYC?

I am a parent. I don’t know which dorm is considered ‘best’, but Davis faces NYC on one side (odd numbered rooms). It also has A/C. Female floors with a view would be 3 and 5 unless they have changed recently.

Hi my name is Tess
I got into Stevens ED1 for Biomedical Engineering, would like to do the 5 year co-op program and get at least a masters.
Assuming the package I receive can make Stevens financially feasible, I will be there in the fall.
I go to a boarding school in PA, but hail from CT.

The name’s David,

Accepted ED1 for Computer Engineering and hopefully some sort of a business minor. I’m from North Jersey–just saying what’s up and trying to meet anyone else who will be at Stevens next year.

Also does anyone know/is anyone going to start a possible Facebook group for all incoming freshmen? Just as an easier and more “popular” way to get everyone together online. If nobody’s willing to do it, I’d be glad to, I’d just need names of who to add, etc., etc…

David if you want to start a group there I would just do it. People will find it. I don’t think there was one last year; people were posting on the regular Stevens page.

Congratulations~

Hi Gensheimerd,
There is a page already:
https://www./Stevens2018
Well, I guess they don’t allow links.
So, go to the Undergrad Admissions Page on the Stevens Website.
Click on Accepted Students, under “Connect”
On the right hand side is a link to the Class of 2018 Facebook Page.
Have fun! Congratulations!!!

I don’t have a facebook /: although, I was invited to do the 4 + 1 Master’s Program! My letter didn’t come with information for myStevens account, did anyone get that in the mail?

I misread something, and the myStevens account comes in the mail once the enrollment process has begun sorry.

Hi my name is Ian, (I think my first post never registered)
Got my acceptance notification via email from coach Carpenter, the head fencing coach. I will be going into engineering (undecided). From Union County, NJ so i won’t be too far from home, but i will be living on campus. So I will be fencing for Stevens and maybe play cello if i feel up to it, but who knows?

Ian, what’s your weapon and rating? My DD is interested in applying to Stevenson for the class of 2019.

milwaukeegirl there is a Stevenson University but this forum is for Stevens Institute of Technology.

Silly autocorrect! I know this is the Stevens Inst. of Tech page. The computer changed it on me without me noticing. I still would love to hear a response from Ian.

Hi I’m Liz, from NJ got accepted ED1 for Business and Technology. I know a lot about the housing because I went to the summer program so you can ask questions if you want. If there is a FB group can someone post the link?

Anyone thinking of doing pre-orientation? I want to do an outdoor adventure, all the options sound so fun!

where did you get pre-orientation information from?

They will send you the pre-orientation info at some point. Don’t worry, it doesn’t fill up that fast. They’ve only admitted the ED1s so far.

If you go to Stevens’ website, go to undergraduate then accepted students. One of the sections there is titled pre-orientation, and it describes the different activities available.

@milwaukeegirl Sorry it has been a while since i had last been on. I have my E12 in Sabre, but that is because I have just been doing it for high school, i was a lot more serious about ratings before i was a junior. The high school fencing did help me a lot in getting used to fencing for a team, but i do fence outside of school, but not as much as i used to. And Stevens is a Div 3 school, so fencing will not be so intense nor interfere with studying as much as a Div 1 school’s more ‘intense’ or demanding programs.
