I am currently trying to decide if I should go to Stevens or RPI. The cost is the same for both so that is not a deciding factor. If you are attending one of the schools please tell me the pros and cons of that school. Also I am majoring in EE if that makes any difference.
If it were me making this decision? If the programs are basically even, I would choose Stevens because it’s in a cute town. And the town is a quick ferry ride to Manhattan. It’s much more pleasant an environment.
Have you visited both campuses? They are so different that you might have a strong preference for one over the other. All other things being equal, choose the campus you prefer.
I just noticed you are transferring: apply to both to see if you get offered any aid at either one. Where do you go now?
I have visited both campuses and I do like Stevens better but I know that RPI offers a better education. I already got accepted to both and they awarded me roughly the same amount of money.
I have one relative who graduated from RPI and one who went to Stevens. Both are very successful. You get out of it what you put into it. Either choice is a good one, so go where you really want to go.
DD was choosing between the same schools. She chose Stevens - she has friends at RPI. Stevens has a more vibrant social scene. Kids are always in NYC. Internships are easy to get. DD loves it.
In today’s competitive world, the co-ops at Stevens are very valuable. My DS loved the campus, and you can’t beat the proximity to the city. RPI is in Troy, upstate NY…hmmm. Decide with your heart. Good luck!
