My sister just got back her sat i scores and it looks really bad. Its been a few years since i've been through the college app process, so I'm not too familar with it and i'm sure there have been changes since then. So i have lots of questions.

Stats:
SAT I (horrible)- cr: 360 m: 500 w: 410
SAT II: bio-650
gpa: 3.3
ap bio: 3
california resident

At this point we are looking at either going to community college and transferring or going to cal states.

What are her chances at the cal states? We are looking at cal poly pomona, cal state la, cal state long beach, and cal state fullerton

The cal states have this eligibility index, which my sister meets. Is this the minimum cutoff line to be considered by the school and that the schools still look at your numbers further to see if you're competitive enough? Is she guaranteed acceptance to one of the cal states since she is a california resident? How does this work?

Does the cal states look at other components besides numbers? For some reason I seem to think that they don't require an essay in their application.

I know the uc's probably won't accept her with her low numbers. But i remember back when i was applying to the uc's i automatically was accepted at uc merced even though i didn't apply there bc i was a california resident and was eligible. Does such a policy exist even now?

What is the policy for the sat II for the cal states and uc's? (i think uc's require 2 sat II's?)

Any input much appreciated :)
