sticky situation

i didn't decide to do pre-med until my second semester of freshman year. i started as a business major, so i didn't take any science courses my first semester, but managed to get into chem 1 second semester, loved it, so i'm taking to plunge and gonna apply to med school. the problem is, i'm worried that because i'm essentially a year behind all other pre-meds, and i really don't want to stay in school for an extra year. i don't know how to fit my classes together. i'm doing hopital volunteer work and shadowed a few doctors this summer and i absolutely love it, and i'm a fairly good student (3.903) and i'm really willing to work hard. this is my plan:

soph fall ('08):
bio 1

soph spring ('09):
bio 2
chem 2 (they don't offer this in the fall)

summer ('09):
organic chem 1 & 2
i'm also getting my emt certification this school year through my school, so i'm hoping to be working next summer as an emt

junior fall ('09):
biochem 1
phys 1

junior spring ('10):
biochem 2
phys 2

summer '10:
planning on doing a research project abroad (if i can get that grant)
also doing some hospital work abroad too

have bc calc credit (5) and ap phys-c credit (5). i still want to take phys over because i honestly don't knowhow i made a 5 on the exam since i was utterly CLUELESS throughout the year.
also, since i'm now a neuroscience major, i have first dibs on a lot of the neuro research opportunities. i was a research assistant in the marketing dpt that did work in neuroeconomics my freshman year, so i feel like i can made a smooth transition.

does this seem like a plausible tentative plan? i know plans change, but i've been freaking out the last few days about med school, and it really seems like my freak out days are far from over considering all the hoops that come after med school. i'd appreciate any input from you guys!

I don’t see any problems with your schedule…seems just fine to me

not everyone does the same thing. As long as you enjoy your work, get it done before you graduate and before you take the MCAT…you should be okay

Some kids take some of the courses over the summer. Also, you can apply a year after you graduate, taking the courses post grad. Sometimes that can even be a benefit. Talk to your advisors, particularly those who counsel premed students at your college. There often is a committee at colleges that help kids who apply to med school and they are often the ones who write the recs. They can tell you how to best do this and get their support which is pretty much essential if you go to a school like that.

my premed advising comittee is known for their many inconsistancies (ie. telling one group of kids one things and then contradicting themselves with another group)

i really would prefer not to take an extra year to complete my premed reqs, mainly due to personal reasons.

i have an alternative plan (although i have a feeling it’s going to be torture)…

soph fall ('08):
bio 1
phys 1

soph spring ('09):
bio 2
chem 2 (they don’t offer this in the fall)
phys 2

junior fall ('09):
biochem 1
orgo 1

junior spring ('10):
biochem 2
orgo 2

like i said, i’m willing to work really hard. i don’t have too many other comittments, just crew, emt training, and research. any opinions would really help
