Still deciding on a few courses...

Okay, here's my classes for next (senior) year as it is:

AP English Lit
AP Bio
AP Spanish Lang
AP Calc BC
AP P/G/Eco
Japanese 2
American Sign Langauge 3/4
Band
Phys. Ed.

English, P/G/Eco, and Phys. Ed. are graduation requirements (I could take other English/Social Studies classes, but there's really no where else to go.) I really want my langauges (Spanish, Japanese, and ASL) to stay. Likewise, Band has been my steady EC.

So the real questions are:
- Is a lab scienece too much? Should I opt out for AP Psych or AP Enviro?
- I hear AP Spanish Lit is easier, should I take that instead of Lang?
- I really want to take the Calc BC Challenge, and I'm more weary about chaning this one. Should I?

I just want to stay competitive until high school's done, but I also don't want to kill myself. I've already maxed out my day (no lunch). I'm willing to make the aforementioned possible class subsistutions if I can't get all my langauges in.

If I kept my schedule as it (maybe with AP Psych instead of AP Bio: the only change I'm really willing to make), do you think I'd be able to take a course at our local CC?

NCC is ranked amongst the best CC in the nation (if that counts for anything). I really want to take French for 3 semesters (Fall, Spring, Summer) before I leave for college.

Wow, that's a tough schedule, but I think you're showing some true determination. Switch out Bio for Psych if you think that it might be too much of a hassle with all your other classes; it's really a matter of whether or not you believe you can handle the challenge. Also, take French if you can. All the classes you picked really bring out the passion you have for languages, and that would only emphasize it more.

I wouldn't take another course at a community college unless you are really experienced in the subject matter and it wouldn't be difficult for you.

Otherwise, you're basically taking 18 hours of college credit, which most college kids don't do, let alone high schoolers.

On the other hand, it could really help you clear up core curriculum requirements in college.

I think I could get core classes out of the way with the APs I've already/will take in High School. But the main reason I want to take a course (namely French) is to get a hook for myself, I want to go into linguistics, so I figured that taking lagnagues (hence my course slesction) would indicate that, btu there's nothing really beyond it.

I still want to, but my mom pretty much dissuaded me already. :/ I guess another Asian in the college-lotto will have to do.

Why do you need so many languages (Jap, ASL, AP Span) take one out, probably ASL I don't think colleges are that impressed by it. AP Bio isn't that hard and the lab portion is optional, you DO NOT need the labs to pass the test. On the calc BC issue I struggled with this one as well and finnally decided that I should take AB because I'm already going to take 2 other AP's, but weather or not you share this view can only be known by you. DO NOT TAKE EXTRA COMMUNITY COLLEGE COURSES IF IT'S NOT NEEDED. You will hate yourself, you already have 5 AP's trust me a community college course is not going to be a big factor to colleges.
