I really need the opinion of other people on whether or not you guys think I will be accepted to Texas A&M. I got a 1550 on my SAT, i did not take the ACT, i have had 2 jobs and a dental internship, 1-2 extracurricular activity, and 3-4 community service events on my resume.I have also have 28 hours of duel credit. And I only sent in 1 letter of recommendation and submitted all 3 essays. Do you think I will be accepted/denied/waitlisted, or offered BlinnTeam or Gateway? If i have a chance of getting gateway or blinnteam, what are my chances? I really want to do gateway that way I can be a full admit by the fall semester, but is it really likely in my situation? Also, how is blinn team? Is it worth doing it, how long do have to do it for?

My other options are texas tech and baylor.

what is the break down in your SAT scores?
What major?
Gateway & Blinn Team are a great way to get admission to A&M - Gateway is done during the summer before the Fall semester of your freshman year. It is a make it or not summer, Complete all the requirements and you are admitted for Fall 2011.
Blinn Team can take up to two years to get full admission to A&M, but complete the program and you are guaranteed a spot at A&M. But in the mean time, Blinn Team kids are taking classes on the A&M Campus.

Yeah i know what each program is, I was just wondering if anybody knew what my chances of getting offered those programs where, especially Gateway… And if I am not admitted and offered BlinnTeam, having 28 college credit hours already, do you think I would be able to transfer to A&M during the spring semester. Or is there a minimum amount of time I MUST stay in the program, say for like one year.

As for my SAT scores:
Critical Reading: 490
Math: 540
Writing: 520
Essay Subscore: 08
SAT Composite: 1030

what do you think my chances are?

You can’t be too hopeful for Business. Just have to be very honest there.

It’s great you have 28 hours dual credit - great job.
Now how about interest in A&M? When you apply with less than steller SAT scores/class rank - you need to show interest in A&M.
Have you taken an official campus tour? have you visited the college of Business? did you do any of the activities offered by A&M to high school Jr/Sr’s? Have you visited a prospective student center in your area and taken advantage of getting to know the advisors there?

I think you have a good chance at Blinn Team. If not, you can still enroll at Blinn and transfer into A&M.

I did take a Texas A&M Campus Tour before the fall semester began an I also attended a Texas A&M Admissions session in Arlington which was in mid August '10. I i remember correctly i was asked if I attended any of those in my Texas A&M application and I did say yes. Do you think that actually helps though? So you dont think i have a legitimate chance of gaining acceptance? (not counting Blinnteam). and if i do get into blinnteam, how long do i have to stay in it for until i transfer?

Participating in A&M admissions programs is definitely a positive. It shows them that you have genuine interest in attending their school because you would take the time to make those visits as opposed to someone who just filled out application with no other effort.

Your GPA and assigned ranking are good, but your SAT is below the average, so that may be a sticking point. I could be wrong, but from what I understand of the program, Gateway tends to be extended to students who have been disadvantaged in their educational opportunities.

It’s really hard for anyone to give you more than a guess as to what your chances are. I read elsewhere, though, that A&M hopes to have all their acceptances out within the next 2-3 weeks. Then the Blinn Team/Waitlist will follow. I wish you the best of luck in your results.

We were told at the Prospective Admissions Center that it is VERY important to show interest in A&M - especially if you are not an automatic admit. Especially if you are not a strong candidate. They offer the programs for high school Jr/Sr’s and you have an advantage in the admissions process if you attend them.
Can’t comment on your chances at admissions, Blinn team, or Gateway. I can wish you the best of luck though!

The actual Blinn Team commitment is 2 years. However, many apply for transfer and are accepted to A&M after a year. You are guranteed admission after you fulfill the commitment of Blinn Team.

I think that you have a chance at full admission and if not you are likely to be offered Blinn team or gateway. Your 28 hours of dual credit will help plus your job, and activities. There is hope for full admission but you are likely on the borderline ith the SAT’s. That being said, you are in the top quarter of your class, and you have proven that you can handle college level work. A&M is looking for good people in th review process and it appears that you have been quite busy. Also, look for changes on your AIS on Wednesdays as that is the day that Admissions dumps a large portion of admits into the system. That way you will not be checking every day. If you go to step 4, then check late in the day as there may be a step 5. Good luck.

I just saw this on another string of post from this weekend at Aggieland Saturday;

We went to the admissions event on Saturday…really enjoyed our time on campus. Went to the session for those “admission in review” students…it was jam packed with people at the 9:00 am session. University reps said that 50% of students for next year’s freshman class will be top 10 percent people, another 15% are academic admits that were not top 10 from texas people and that 35% will be admission by review candidates. Of that 35%, 65% have already been notified so not a whole lot of room left. She said they hope to have all decisions out in next 2-3 weeks. The staff said they had 30,000 applicants for 8,000 spots this year…a record for them. Yikes!! They discussed that some will be wait listed and some offered a spot on the Blinn Team…all in all, it was an interesting session.

I have been admitted to Mays, but I have friends who were told that Mays is full and were admitted to the general undergrad studies (not sure of name) program. They are all at least top 25% with good GPA’s and decent test scores. They got this info at least a month ago.

Im applying to Economics - School Of Liberal Arts
SAT-1760 (1230 Combined)
Eagle Scout
Interested in Corps
Other pretty good ECs
2nd Quarter (45% Percentile)

Could have been a boost, for sure, if you had. There is a session in April. Maybe if you contact the Corps office you can get some assistance with admissions. Its worth a try!
