I applied to A&M on August 11 and they received all my documents (ACT score & transcriptions) and everything else by August 17. But I haven't heard anything yet. I'm on step 3 right now ( Review Application Credentials). Is anyone else on the same page as me?
[ I applied to College of Geosciences.. if that makes a difference ]

I am in top 20% with an ACT score of 29. I have lots of extra currics and a pretty heavy course load. I wrote Essay A B & C, but i did not submit any teacher recommendations or a counselor recommendation.

Does it usually take this long? I know some of my friends already got accepted (they weren't an auto-admit with top 10%) after only a month of submitting their application. Should I call and ask? Or are they just reviewing my application carefully?

My daughter is in a similar situation…28 on her ACT, top 12%, wrote all 3 essays and has 2 recommendation letters and EC’s. She has been on step 3 since August 31.

I talked to our local admissions rep Thursday and he said not to expect anything until
February or March.

It’s tough when other schools want her and are offering scholarships and we hear nothing
but A&M is her top choice so we’ll hang tight. Hopefully no news is good news but I sure
wish we would know soon.

my daughter is in about the same boat. top 15% 29 ACT. essays, teacher recs, lots of EC, both parents a&m grads. : / on step 3 for about a month now.

Wow, that’s rough. Ds is in although his stats were kind of flopped – an SAT stronger than his rank (though a great GPA at his competitive school). Susan and giraffe, did your kids demonstrate interest? Ds went to an overnight visit, etc.

Maybe it will make her appreciate it more when/if she does get in by
waiting!

She has expressed interest by attending SEAL, writing a thank you
note to admissions after SEAL confirming her interest in A&M, attending football games, attending basketball games, doing a tour her junior year, and talking with local admissions rep.

Don’t worry, even if applied early, review applicants may have to wait awhile to hear back from TAMU. Three years ago I had similar stats when I applied, and I applied a few weeks later in the year than you, and didn’t hear back from TAMU until Feb 1st. Don’t worry, it’ll come – just be patient.

from what i understand, its different for everyone. i know people who were top 10% last year, and sent their apps in around the end of november and didn’t hear anything til march. but i’ve also heard of review applicants getting in after about 3 weeks of being on step 3. i guess it’s just different with everyone.

i hope you hear something good soon (: seems like you will.

Congratulations to your Daughter Mike! And Congratulations to you! I am so glad you can relax and enjoy your holiday knowing your daughter is an Aggie.

at a&m the housing deposit is refundable except for 25 bucks. unless you have some special circumstances (like preferred housing for honors or something) you should go ahead with the housing deposit or risk not getting a room at all.
