Still NO Decision

Applied on December 31st. Sent in all my materials.
When am I going to get my decision?
Already got into other SUNYs.

This is for regular decision btw. I applied for regular decision on December 31st.

My daughter was deferred from EA and havent heard anything either.

also still waiting. 3 of my sons friends were accepted a month ago, but they applied for liberal arts and my son applied for engineering. Maybe he should have applied for liberal arts as well, since there may be more ‘seats’ … Oh well nothing we can do now. look on the bright side, we will all know one way or another within the next 9 days.

D applied RD with the SUNY App in Mid-November to SOM. Haven’t heard yet. Only SUNY we’re still waiting on (+ 3 privates we have not heard from).

My son is still waiting and the other day I suggested that he call the admissions dept. to speak to them. He said “why would I want to go to a school where they don’t want me? I have many other good choices.” And he’s got a point. He’s been offered scholarship money and gotten letters and emails welcoming him and inviting him to April orientations at other schools where the atmosphere seems cheery and open. The silence from Binghamton is deafening, especially since he applied early action and was rolled over to RD. Binghamton is using this time to cherry pick 1. out of staters who will pay more and 2. to review FAFSAs and make decisions based on financial need. While I can’t fault them for trying to get the best class possible and the most tuition money, I can fault them for the total lack of transparency with no communication. A simple “hang in there” email would have gone a long way. Maybe it’s sour grapes on my part but I have really cooled off on them.

^^@beachme. Agreed, Now that my daughter has been accepted to her top choice and has received a nice scholarship from one of her safeties, the Bing decision is just about bragging rights.

Totally agreed with beachme! I’m from NY, deferred from EA, from what I’ve heard so far, SUNY first accept out of state students with lower SAT/GPA, sad and not fair!!

beachme - I couldn’t have said it any better. To hell with Binghamton. My son applied early action and was deferred. At that point we were a little disappointed. Then every single collece he applied to accepted him and stayed in contact with him throughout the whole process. Once his first choice accepted him he said to me “I’m done” I don’t need to hear from Binghamton, I am going to a school that WANTS me.

The whole process with Binghamton has definately left a bad taste in our mouths. I am happy my son got accepted by his first choice.

We can now look back at this and laugh, Binghamton is losing many good students as they drag this out. Yes I know they have until April 1st to make a decision, we however choose not to wait any longer.

Wow… And I thought we were the only ones feeling this way!!! Glad to hear we are not alone…

I agree with all of you! I have to say it was like this 3 years ago as well when my son applied. At this point I dont think my daughter even cares. I have seen the lower STATS out of state get in…its not fair. Good Luck!

Same here. Son has already heard from several privates and 3 Sunys, all accepted and all with honors or presidentials. Even he is starting to say why Bing? They will give no merit and cost 20k more for undergrad.

Binghamton received a record amount of application in its history, so have patients and give the admissions team time.

I, too, am a parent (mom) waiting for a decision for my daughter from Binghamton. She was deferred early decision, then nothing. What is so frustrating it that that Binghamton’s webpage stated it was accepting freshmen applications on a rolling basis after February 1. It wasn’t until mid March that it said it was not accepting any more applications. When I called yesterday, I received a recorded message saying decisions would be sent out by April 1. It also said the school is still accepting applications for fall 2013 freshmen. I thought I heard wrong, so called again. Nothing wrong with my ears!! I believe those deferred ea applicants were put aside just in case there were not enough suitable rd students to fill its seats. Fine. I get it. What I don’t get is the extension for freshman applicants. I am extremely turned off by Binghamton. If it doesn’t want my daughter, change her status from deferred to rejected, and let her move on with what she has to do.

My status checker does not say deferred anymore…just nothing about status. Cant pay deposit. Anyone else’s change?

Just checked and no changes here GCmom. My son applied RD Jan 1st…

Thanks for checking…My daughter applied EA was deferred to RD. Used to say EA deferred to ED now it says nothing. Weird.

“nothing” is better than “denied”!! Keep the faith!

GCmom415 - same for my son.

GCmom, looks like my son’s status page changed as well. No longer says “EA deferred to RD”
