Still no financial aid from UVa

Was just wondering if there's anyone else in this situation because I have yet to receive any financial aid and I'm very paranoid right now.

Are you an incoming transfer, or first year or returning student?

My financial aid doesn’t arrive until August.

If you filed your paperwork in on time, FA for returning students is supposed to be posted online late July, I believe.

Sorry I didn’t clarify this-- I will be attending UVa this Fall as a first year student. There were a couple problems with my FA initially and I had to resend a few documents, so did some of my friends. However, they have already got their FA and I’m still waiting on mine. I’ve sent numerous emails but they just keep telling me the same thing that “it’s still be processed”. I’m kind of worried about loans and all that other stuff since I’m the first one in my family to be attending college I’m not quite sure how this all works out.

Pbangy, don’t stress about it. You’ll be fine. UVA’s financial aid office operates efficiently.

Keep after them. The first years are supposed to have their financial aid done first. If they request even more info, get it to them ASAP. Also, keep checking the to do list on SIS and keep checking your UVa email regularly.

The federal loan process is pretty simply and doesn’t take long to complete.

has any upperclassmen received their financial aid package yet?

Nope, as I stated before, my financial aid arrives in early August. And I turn in my paperwork early.

My son (2nd year) received his financial aid package around June 21, so maybe it is coming out in batches.

Yeah, I got my aid around mid June. My friend just got his yesterday. It all depends, really.

I have the same problem. It’s August, and I still have not receive my financial aid package. I’ve filed out my Fafsa and CSS on time, and did not get my preliminary award. Every few weeks, I would get a new to-do item and I would immediately get it done. Then nothing for 2 weeks, and BOOM more additional information requests. When I call it’s always "We’re working on it,"or “They’re working on it as we speak.” SO frustrating :’(

That is a very very common problem this year - it is about 10 days until payment is due and many people have not heard anything about their financial aid. Many people are posting their complaints on their class’s facebook page. People have called the office, and in the rare times when they answer the phone, are told that “they are working on it.”

The process SHOULD be smoother this year - because the financial aid office understandably reminded, pushed, prodded and threatened families to submit their forms on time. However, there are still no answers for many people who did submit everything on time.

People need time to transfer funds among accounts, etc. and to take care of their loan documents. Most people don’t have $25K sitting in their checking accounts for this semester’s bills.
