Still no interview...

I still haven't been contacted for an interview, and I'm getting a little worried (even though I know the interview doesn't hold much weight and isn't required, I'd like to have one). I will be out of town for a few days next week (from Feb 23rd to 28th), and I'm worried that my interviewer will call to schedule interviews that weekend. I know Columbia doesn't want students calling the admissions office to ask about interviews, but should I try anyway? Will they be helpful, or just tell me what I already know (that an alumnus will contact me and I should just wait..)

Thanks.

you should contact the allumni club where u live, that's waht i tried... but i didn't get any response yet :(

I havent got an interview too

I haven't gotten an interview, either. I think you should just wait because when a university says they don't want students calling about interviews, then that means they don't want you to bother them about it.

By the way. Just some advice on your interviews. Be professional and know why you want to go to Columbia. It would be nice if you know something about the university. Some of you high school students have no clue and come late and are nonchalant.

I have gotten interviews virtually everywhere I applied to that generally offers them including H, Y, P, Brown, Cornell, and UPenn but Columbia for some reason has not yet contacted me for one. Sort of weird...

Don't worry. Someone who goes to Columbia told me that about half of the people she knows at Columbia didn't get an interview when they applied. I don't know how accurate that is, but just a tidbit of info.

me=no interview yet

no interview either
but the sad thing is
i'm the only one out of EVERY ONE OF MY FRIENDS that applied (at least 5 other people)

not only that, i actually submitted my part one earlier than the 'preferred date'

and i still don't have an interview. sigh
i don't think i'm gonna get one..

me neither. i haven't gotten one at columbia or cornell (or duke or northwestern)

Just got a Columbia interview and have one tommorow, don't lose hope folks!!

i'm from south jersey-got one for next week.

am i the only one that is glad i didnt get an interview? surprisingly, i didnt get an interview for any of the colleges i applied to.

maybe it goes by alphabetical order?

I didn't get an interview either yet.... my last name starts with "B" too.

me too, the last name with a B thing and no interview, i was wondering if anyone knows when we can be contacted for an interview at the latest...should be soon right? ::sigh:: i just need closure at this point

guyz i cant take this anymore..i havent received an interview either...and my last name starts with a B too!!

i think they do it randomly..but 2 people from my school got interviews (and only 3 total are applying to CU)..which means im the only one left!!!

im really scared...

GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU

I havent got one and im a T so who knows?

I'm pretty sure it's random. Out of like, 6 or so Columbia applicants from my school, only a couple got interviews. I hadn't been contacted for an interview, so last week I asked one of the guys who has for the email of the person who contacted him. Anyway, I think I have an interview scheduled this Sunday, but the alum who agreed to do it seems very busy and unfamiliar w/the process, so I don't really know what's going to happen (or where or when I'm going to meet him on sunday, and since it's oscar night and he lives in Hollywood, I wonder if I'll have road block problems...) Yeah, and I found out that the deadline for alumni interviews is March 1, so try to contact someone now, or you're not going to get an interview.

the interviews dont even matter guys so dont worry. The adcoms don't even look at them. A kid from my school last year got in without an interview (in fact, he wouldn't have got in if he did interview because he's very strange - he was rejected from all the places he did interview). Interviews are oly good if you have a super outgoing personality or you don't necessarily have great stats. Otherwise, I wouldn't worry about it.
