My son has still not received his parking pass in the mail (Horizon Garage near Swearingen). Anyone else in the same boat or should we start calling? Thanks!

I’d call first thing Monday to be sure it’s on the way.

My son hasn’t received his yet either. I called on Friday and was told it was mailed out Tuesday morning so it should have come by now (NC). When I called, they said if he doesn’t get it by move-in time, they’ll issue him a temporary one until the other one arrives. I explained that makes no sense since clearly if it hasn’t arrived by then, it’s not going to happen and he’d be right in front of them getting the temporary one so why not just give him another of his permanent pass?? Plus, to wait until the original one comes in our mail, only for us the have to mail it to him makes no sense either at that point. Anyway, clearly I hope it shows up before move in day. If not by Thursday, I’m calling them again to give a heads up.

Coleman4,

Well, my son called Parking Services about the missing parking pass (we live near Columbia) and he was told that he could come in this Saturday for a temporary pass if his has still not shown up in the mail. We moved several months ago, and even though we changed our address with USC, they apparently have three addresses on file for him: our old address in our old city, our new address in our new city, and a third address which has our new street address, but old city! :(. And they were unable to tell him which of the three addresses was used when mailing the parking pass!

Just wanted to mention this in case it might apply to others as well. My son still hasn’t received his parking pass so I called… VERY helpful lady from parking. It seems some might have gone to the student mailbox as they had my son’s primary address as his school mailbox. Also, apparently there were delivery options and his had a ‘for pick-up’ on the label (I don’t even recall selecting a delivery option) so his pass is actually at the parking office.

If anyone else needs to visit the parking office, they said they are open on Friday until 5 PM, then re-open on Saturday at 10 AM. She also said you should be able to get into your parking garage (Senate in son’s case) with your student ID- but still need to pick up your pass.

Success! My son went to the parking office today to request a temporary parking pass since his permanent parking pass never arrived in the mail. Well, lo and behold, it had been returned by the post office as “undeliverable” (they had mailed it to a wrong address) so it was sitting in a stack of returned passes at the office. We had given them the correct address so I’m not sure where they got the address that they used. Apparently, they have tons of returned passes.

Yeah! Sound like a problem from moving to new systems and importing information but glad it wasn’t too hard to fix.

Also for others, starting I think now, the gates on all garages will be up for anyone to park through Aug 19. By the end of that day (or starting on that day -check for a parking services email) you have to get your car out if it doesn’t have a sticker to be there. But don’t panic if you still don’t have one when you get here - you have time to take care of it.

Fingers crossed for weather tomorrow. Right now it’s 73 and only around 80 tomorrow but maybe more rain. Unheard of to be this cool in Aug in Columbia!

I drove down to Columbia yesterday and my goodness the rain! I hope everyone was able to move in successfully despite the pouring cats and dogs.
