I applied before Rutgers Early Action deadline and my credentials were all received by Nov 4. I applied to Rutgers New Brunswick SAS as well as Newark, just in case. I'm worried because many people who applied early have found out whether they've got in or rejected yet my status remains 'In Process'. I thought Newark replied faster and I still haven't gotten a response from them either.

Is anyone else in the same situation as me? Also do your scores affect the time it takes to make a decision or is it completely random? How often does Rutgers update the status page?

I applied back in October.
I’m at Lawrenceville, SAT 2360, almost a perfect GPA and have not yet heard back, and I know a few others here with similar stats also no answer yet from applications filed online in October
I think it is a 100% random order that applications are reviewed.
This is a back up for me, I’m waiting on Yale SCEA, and I think I am in with my legacy and both parents being very involved in alumni donations, but it is never sure for admission at any ivy league
But Yale let’s you apply early to your state university, so I have a safety at Rutgers NB.
I like Rutgers SEBS school and would not mind going there if i get in and no other top choices admit me…
Peace
Frank

I’m in the same boat as you. Perfect GPA, (though my test scores aren’t that high-1720), credentials received 11/4, applied 10/16, still haven’t heard anything back. On the website it says that they update their page every night Mon-Fri. But you’re pretty much guaranteed acceptance; I wouldn’t worry at all!

I think the admission review and decision process is quite random. My daughter finally submitted her application the night of December 1, which was the deadline, she just heard back today, accepted by both SAS and SEBS, less than 10 day turn around time. SAT is average, GPA is above average, no APs at all.

She checked Rutgers’ website everyday to make sure nothing is missing. She is extremely surprised at such fast decision. She has not received the e-mail notification yet, some of her friends said that e-mail notification can come much later. Maybe it is a bit of luck, still can’t understand how they could have reviewed everything so quickly, figuring a lot of kids will try to beat the deadline and apply during the few days before deadline…

Good luck to everyone who is still waiting, Rutgers does admit a lot of students.

Going by what I’m reading here, admissions seems very random. My son applied early-mid October. The day after his SATs were sent, (his final piece of application info, delivered maybe Oct 21st?) he was accepted to all schools. He has very good stats but not the highest stats.

That’s great, but it definitely stings for those of who have applied way before everyone. It seems like our applications were placed on the back burner and pretty much ignored. I’m a little frustrated by this now.

Its annoying. I applied October 30th, Early Action, and still nothing. A ton of my friends have already heard back, some after a week! My SAT score was a 1910 and weighted GPA is a 3.74 so I’m pretty sure I’ll get in, SAS and Engineering, but it’s taking too long.

We have tried to get a hold of admissions several times via email. Can’t find a phone number to call. Guidance counselor has called. Friend who is a guidance counselor also called and went to the college on our behalf. only answer ever received is wait till January 31 and we are guaranteed an answer. Whatever. yes all is in and has been since September. In state. not giving us warm and fuzzy feeling that’s for sure.

ok cake, as long as you have your documents in you are fine.

I always say this, but Rutgers is huge. Sometimes things don’t seem to happen consistently, but everything gets done in the end. fwiw, I don’t think that applying in August or September gets you an answer any faster than applying in October, according to what I have read here over the years.

Thanks rualum! I agree rutgers does seem to send acceptances at very different times. I wouldn’t have thought much about it except that the admission tour people said if we apply early we will get an answer within eight weeks and that rutgers prefers early to stagger the work. It doesn’t help either that basically every one in her school has already heard and been accepted and every one of then applied two months after her. It feels like they do not want her or are waiting to see of anyone better comes . Oh well. Guidance counselor is going to call and sees what’s up. He doesn’t understand why its taken so long either.

Well…its a miracle! Had two GCs reach out to RU and miraculously her portal was updated (said it was updated only through 11/7; now up to date), and D was accepted! Four months later but accepted!
