still nothing

S submitted his app EA on September 20 and still hasn't received word from Tulane that his app is being processed. He is in school and activities until after 6. Is it okay for a parent to call admissions to check status?

Sure, or he can send an e-mail to his admissions counselor. You can see who your counselor is by going to [Tulane Admission: Meet Your Counselor](http://admission.tulane.edu/counselors/index.php)

I think its generally better if parents stay out of the interactions with the school - I think it would be better for your son to send an email and begin an interaction with his admissions counselor …

My son applied on September 1st, and his status came online just a few days ago. The first message that came on said his application was lacking his transcripts and guidance counselor recommendation. I knew that they had been sent so I called admissions to follow up and they checked and found that they had them. I was glad I called because the next day his application status showed complete. I think that the people who handle the calls are interns, and they didn’t seem to mind dealing with a parent. If you are worried about it, I would call. It’s worth the peace of mind.

Yes, the admissions office obviously knows that the students are in school all day. Parents calling is no big deal, as long as they (the parents) are polite and understanding. As kreativekat says, you might be talking to a student work-study person.

Hi. I applied to Tulane on September 13th, and my application status went “complete” around September 27th. I applied single choice early action and Tulane is my first choice school. I am incredibly anxious to hear back. Does anyone know from experience when I should receive some form of notification? I’ve heard Tulane is really speedy with informing applicants of decisions. Also, will I receive an email, a letter, or a change in my application status online?

tulane wont ever give out a decision over the phone, whether its the student, parent, etc. normally an email comes letting you know that you can check your updates status online, however a letter with your decision / merit offer (if accepted) usually arrives at your house before you receive this email. if you get the email but never received a decision letter, you can usually call and they can check if a letter has been mailed yet

figured out the riddle of why S application is not complete…counselor request submitted september 22…packet mailed by office…YESTERDAY.

Its probably better to contact the Admissions office rather than the local rep right now, as at this time of year most of the reps are probably on the road doing college presentation and HS college fairs.
