Still on the wait list?

Both a relief and a source of stress. The calendar watching begins again...argh.

My daughter was waitlisted at Brown and plans to attend Barnard College. She still hopes she will get off the waitlist. She did three things: (1) sent back the postcard from Brown saying "Keep me on the list!", followed by a letter reiterating the reasons she wants to go to Brown and committing to enroll if accepted. She included an updated list of her recent achievements and activities. Last, she mailed Brown a copy of her local scholarship notebook, including some references they had not yet seen and miscellaneous newspaper articles. (We live in a small town.) Beyond that, she just has her fingers crossed. There is a similar situation at her school. Another senior is staying on the waitlist even though he has confirmed plans to attend Yale. It would sure make her happy to get in at Brown.

Right, these waiting days are agonizing!! I wonder if there's anything we can do now. Do you guys keep in touch w/ any admission staff? I wrote one an e-mail last week and she said the Board of Admission just started reviewing waitlisted apps this Mon. but she didn't tell me when the results are gonna come out. So anxious... will they give decisions to everyone at the same time or they'll admit a few first and some later? that's a stupid question right... i don't know why i asked that.... just so stressed, argggggggggggg

I heard that they will start notifying the 16th, aka Monday. My thought is that they will admit to fill the holes first. If they don't get enough kids to accept in the first round they will come back to the admissions commitee and decide on a second round. I don't think they will do much more than a second round.
Monday they may admit some standout who just demonstrated they they really deserve to be in the class. I think throughout all of next week they will be informing the first round waitlist decisions that they got in. But it all depends on how fast they go through all the kids still on the waitlist. If there are 1000+ on the waitlist it could take forever, whereas about 200 they could probably get through it and make some decisions by Monday.

yeah, wondering how many waitlisters this year, they just said some hundreds.... sounds like if I get no news next week, that'll probably be bad news.....{checkin' calendar}

Brown's waitlist is significantly small this year in comparison to some of the other Ivy's. Anyone who is on the waitlist should feel proud.

i hope that they accept a lot of people off the waitlist. although i'm going to pton, i think i'd rather have my gf go to brown than wellesley...which is where she'll be going if she doesn't get off the list.

how do you know that curtisny? i thought the number's still a few hundreds like previous years. Anyway, that's a lil heartening. Thanks :)

Yay!! So maybe we have a chance??? Oh well, I guess only time will tell. I am slightly unnerved that we are a statistic, but at least it is a relatively good statistic.
Does anyone know how many spaces there were in the class for waitlisters?

bokonon, why would u rather have your gf go to brown than wellesley?

Good KARMA to all those on the wait list. Monday will be a significant day...

lol.... i live in vancouver, BC, canada, which is on the opposite end of north america from where brown is... it'll take a LONG time before i get notified if brown decides to communicate through mail.
well... at least it's comforting to know that they ARE taking ppl.
anyways, all in detests against waitlists, say aye!

they contact you by phone

I don't know what phone number they have. I hope they have my cell phone because I don't use my land line, but I fear they have the land line and I don't get home till about 8. AHHHHHH, the agony!

phone?! wow... i thought they said by mail...

because wellesley seems uptight and *****y. i dislike their petty anti-alcohol policy that causes girls to binge drink in their rooms. on the other hand, brown seems a lot more relaxed and i think that she'd be happier there. also, her best friend is going to brown and that would make the move away from home easier.

Does anyone know when they call or how they notify you?? This wait is agonizing.

my guidance counselor said schools call you to inform you that you have been accepted.

I dont know what time of the day it is, then again, i'm probly gonna hear from my guidance counselor first anyway. Hell, they may not even call me, my guidance counselor will probly do all the talking.

hey JJ04, what school do you go to?

hey, at least you've got your guidance counselor. I'm an int'l so I've gotta do all the contacting. do you know if they'll notify int'ls by e-mails or snail mails?

I am tempted to call tomorrow and just ask them if they have started informing waitlisters.
