hawaii got theirs today

no worries brownsurfer; as a matter of fact, i don't know how long it takes mail to go from brown to ur place either; haha
well, hopely i'll be able to see u at brown though

good news for u smile05?

there're more than 2 batches??? that was also what I thought when the admission officer I was talking to said that "this is a rolling process". But they already admitted nearly 50 on the 1st round, how many do you think they can admit on the next ones?? Best luck to very one!!!

I'd guess it depends how many of the first round accept. Last year, they took a fairly large number off the waitlist. Who knows.

i still can't believe it... good news :)

i wish the best for all...

Do you think it is helpful to send updates, such as scholarships received, or will you just be considered a nuisance?

Do you think it is helpful to send updates, like recent scholarships received, or will you be perceived as a nuisance?

Just out of curiosity, did you guys (who just got off the waitlist) send supplements and contact the admission officers till end of April or did you keep in touch w/ Brown all along till you received the good news???

I sooooooo wanna go to Brown and just don't know what to do now. arg... i'm goin' nuts. Is anybody waiting for 2nd batch & feelin' the same like me?

@Rabo: did you know how many they took last year? I thought it was somewhere around 50??? (out of 500 I think...)

I am definitely in the same boat.

I didn't hear from Brown, and I am so anxious about the second wave of acceptances. Does anyone have any data about this second wave? I heard that last year, around 15 students were admitted in late June. I also heard that the numbers aren't as high this year.

Ah!

15 out of some hundreds, natW??? Gluck to ya. hope we'll both get good news some time soon :)

I am so nervous. Right now for me it is honestly going to change the way my life plays out where I get into. I could either get into Brown and be a varsity athlete or go to wash u and row for a club team. I know I sound sad and that "everything is riding" on this decision, but I am just afraid that I will have to give up a lot of possibilities. I guess I can always transfer.

I sent one letter within a week of being waitlisted, outlining how much I wanted to go, my reasons for going, and my reasons for why I'm a good match for brown.

holy crap, only 50 admits, i thought there were more.

Wow. Nothing today. Did you hear anything yet Lauren? Did anyone in Texas hear anything? I'm stressed. I want Brown so badly. Laurnen, how many people do you know of in Central Texas who are on the waitlist?

I only know you. The girl from my school who was accepted didn't choose to attend, and I know another girl from a different school who was accepted, no one else on the waitlist.
I figure I wasn't accepted first round, and I am very scared because I don't think I will be accepted in the next month. I am sort of hopeful that people who were accepted from the waitlist decide not to attend because then I would have a better chance, but then I seem mean.

No I understand your sentiment. One girl at my school was accepted and decided not to go. I go to LBJ in case you forgot. where did the other girl go who was accepted? as in what high school? I hope Texas is just really really slow with the mail. Maybe we still have a shot? I know it can take 4 days for something to get from Dallas to Corpus, so maybe it can take 5 or 6 for something to get from providence to austin? At least let's hope so. Again, I wish you the best. And everyone else on the waitlist.

sorry to disappoint you texans, but one of my friends got in off the waitlist yesterday...we're in houston.

I actually didn't send anything extra to the admissions office and was very surprised to be admitted off the waitlist. I had originally intended on sending stuff in but after receiving financial aid offers from other schools, I felt too disheartened by the fact I would probably not be able to afford Brown. Ironically I now find myself in this situation.

Bokonon- I don't expect to have been admitted first round. I think I would have found out. It can take two days to get from Austin to Houston(because maybe that was how the flight went) but I don't think it would and I am upset but not overly hopeful.

Aidnked- Did you get a good financial aid offer, or are you going to stay with your original choice?

Brownsurfer- I don't know where she goes, I just row against her. The girl from my school that was accepted chose Pomona(there are 5 kids from my class of 115 going there next year).
