I note above that the only "offer" person from the scorecard is, I think, an LOA candidate who was only waiting on a medical waiver. So, it doesn't look like anyone, yet, who may be in the national qualified alternate pool from the scorecard above has received an Appointment at this late date. However further for info, I contacted my D's RO today and received an email back saying "Decisions should be made shortly and she will be notified within the next few weeks." So, I guess this is good news for all of us still waiting. I assume the RO would have been able to tell us if a wait list or reject decision had already been made. But, the waiting continues!

I want to believe that if they give you the April 15th deadline, whatever comes is not going to be strictly rejections or wait listed letters. Let's hope some will be appointments for those who are still waiting. After this long wait, it will all be worth it if an appointment comes through. I would rather have had the rejection a heck of a lot earlier in the year.

quote]can any BG's confirm or deny that if you accept another SA Appointment on May 1, and then if USNA comes thru, back out of it?{/quote]

I too would like to know if this is possible, as it seems this may be a very big factor for a lot of people here.

If you accept another academy, you are required to withdraw your application from the others...hence, wait as long as you can if that is what you are facing, but DON'T let the acceptance deadline pass.

We are a LOA candidate and we found out Saturday night that our vision waiver was granted. We have not received any info on paper from the academy as of yet. But I spoke with our admissions officer this afternoon and he said the the "formal letter" or offer will be mailed this week.

So there are still appointments coming and you have to hang in there!

We are incredibly proud to have the opportunity to join the class of 2011!

Michdad and Anne

!WOW! What awesome news Michdad! CONGRATULATIONS to your daughter and your entire family! Enjoy this moment in your child's life to the fullest.

hey Pack Mom!!

I Love your plug for NROTC!! It is an honor to get that scholarship and it very well may be better way for a particular son or daughter to pursue midshipman to officer status! We still have not received final notice--but are coming to grips with the realization that God truly has our son's future in His hands...

So...Where is your son attending NROTC? Love to get feedback--we may have to go to another forum for this--but if you have general info that could help others who are "patiently waiting"--post here--if not, would you mind sending me a Private message?

thanks so much! As one other awesome young man who has posted with a rejection--only 20% of Naval officers come from the Academy--so lets hear from other options!

whistle pig....

just sharing what my ro told me a few weeks ago. i called and asked about a cvw and she told me i did not get an invite because you must sq'ed to get one. i wouldn't have even been pursuing naps so hard if it weren't for that phone call. i just would have been one of the many rejections.

i doubt that she would tell me that with my passion for usna and the navy. it just doesn't make sense for her to tell me if it wasn't true.

although, usna69 does make a good point.

Many invites were sent out in October for any of the 6 or 7 CVWs, including those most recent. Many of those did not have 3 Qd status yet, as was noted by the Dir of Admission in discussion. Point being, it is generally not a requirement for invite. As 69 has suggested and makes sense, if one is receiving the invite recently, cannot imagine they'd extend in absence of 3 Qd now. Only makes sense. But formally "required," it's not. I think we're worrying about how to get a camel thru the eye of a needle though, don't you? On 11 April, this is no doubt the least of one's worries, I'd suspect.;)

The silence is deafening from those waiting to hear.

Of the 23 listed as waiting a few days ago on this forum:
Rejection: 1
Wait listed: 8
No news: 11
Offer: 1 (LOA)

Be sure to let us know if you hear anything.

Rejection yesterday in the mail. Not even wait listed, really dissapointing to say the least. It however makes me want it even more. I will do whatever to get in next year!!

emm89-

Hang in there.

emm89- I am so sorry about your disappointing news. My son too received his rejection letter today - Friday the 13th of all days! Talk about the last minute. It is definitely news we would have preferred hearing sooner. What does it all mean? Please let me know if you figure it out, and best wishes to you in what is sure to be a successful road. Remember "Luck favors the well-prepared" so you've got it made !

Gosh Emm89- You must be stinging from the letter. I am so, so sorry. You have a powerful attitude towards getting in next year, your determination is palpable. Make a plan and keep in touch!

Utahmom- What a day to get that particular letter? I am terribly sorry. I love your perspective about being well-prepared. I'm sure your son will do very well this fall, he has you by his side!

for those getting rejection letters: this does not have to be the end of the road to the navy, or annapolis for that matter, unless you decide to make it so. Please remember that 1/3 of each admission class will come in with some form of post-high school education behind them...1,2 and even 3 years worth...

so if your heart is set on the Navy, do persue NROTC programs- there are lots out there. And if it is set on USNA as the way to get to that Navy commissioning, consider tossing your hat into the arena for the class of 2012.... it will be here before you know it...

in the meantime, good luck wherever you land- you have learned more about yourself just going through this process than you might have imagined- and good for you that you gave it your best effort! Hold you head high, because not all are willing to even consider a career in the military- so hats off to you, and wherever you land, they will be lucky to get you!

And if you do decide to persue the Class of 2012, you will be in good company.... right after I-Day the posts start pouring in for next year's class, believe it or not- and who knows, the second time might be the charm!!!

bmans brother is out. rejection letter today. still have a shot with cga.

luckily I have a navy rotc and an army rotc sch/ship to weigh. want navy but i like the army school better. maybe the cga will keep me from having to make that one. thanks to all and good luck in your pursuits. will still be checking in.

If you have not gotten your appointment yet, please know that my son got his by phone on June 20th last year!!

He was Valedictorian, 4.2GPA, Governor's School, Travel Soccer, 31 ACT, 1390 SAT and a heck of a good kid, still no LOA or appointment.

Privately, the admissions folks said lots of nice things that they always say ("He is very competitive") but one admissions person told me they were concerned that my son might not be physically competitive! (parenthetically, he has earned an "A" on every PRT during this his plebe year!)

Anyway, we worried and worried. Or I should that we, the parents, worried. My son was peaceful through it all.

We (the Parents) had to "put it on the Altar" - - - maybe God was saying "NO" or "Not yet" even though we thought we knew for sure the Lord had wanted him to go there. So we paid the sign up fee at UVA. My son would be fourth generation at UVA but as an alum, my opinion is that the school is ungodly, prideful and filled with hard left leaning professors. Jefferson wasn't all that great either!!

When we surrendered fully to the Lord and the process, nothing happended but we had peace. At the last minute the door opened.

A year later we are still shocked.

NROTC would have been fine but USNA has been the perfect fit for my son. Sometimes we have to be willing to "put it on the altar"- or surrender our dreams to God's providence - before He will open the door. Sometimes we have to wait. Either way, if you have made it this far, you CAN DEFINITELY be a Naval Officer. And that is the whole point anyway, right?

Quigg
Had you guys received a rejection letter? Or just nothing until June 20 last year?

My son Joshua Fleet Lawrence, 17th Company: Fleetlawrence@gmail.com got into the class of 2010 on June 20th at 10:15am. Was He the last one accepted that you know of?

Peace.

my son WAS on the Waiting list and then he was told "no more appointments will be going out before I-Day this year and most probably few if any afterwards."

My daughter also received a letter today from USNA saying an Appointment will not be offered. However, we get on the plane tomorrow morning and head off to the wild blue yonder of the U.S. Air Force Academy for her orientation session with the class of 2011! Go Zoomies!
