still take USH SAT II with no AP?

hey everyone.

i've been wondering, can you still get a score above 700 without having taken U.S. History AP? i'll be taking honors next year, but i wanted to take the subject testing.

when i looked at the other threads, i saw that everybody was in the AP class who took the subject testing. so if you guys can give me your input, that'll be great!

Of course you don't NEED to. It helps, but history is probably the easiest subject to study for anyhow.

i wish i would've taken AP us before taking the SAT II.

--->690 no prepbook, just the regular ol' textbook.

if i had something that would've covered more material (didn't cover modern art at all) and not so much missionary work (it was a christian textbook), i probably would've done a bit better on it. oh well

good luck!

Don't so it. You need an AP level course to do well. I was in an Honors level course and did great in the course and poorly and the SAT II. I wish someone would have given me this advice before I took it.

I had an honors level course and got an 800 one year later. Just read REA the week before.

thanks for the input guys.
it's been very helpful.

supposedly my honors us history teacher is harder and MUCH better than the ap teacher. so i think i'm going to take it. but we'll see.

You should just take it but make sure you do some extra prepping. As for the modern art stuff, I didn't learn any of that in my AP class/work. The trivial questions are really the ones that prevent people from getting 700s.
