Still waiting for. . .14 colleges -_-

Anyone else going stir-crazy waiting for March 31/April 1 (or any later date?) to come? Right now, I’ve applied to 14 colleges and I don’t know about any of them (I was deferred early from MIT, that’s it).

I’ve enjoyed the period of blissful ignorance, knowing that I have the potential to be accepted into my dream colleges, but enough is enough. . .the uncertainty is killing me - I need to know no matter how hard its going to be to take. Everyone around me has gotten in for early decision/action or has at least gotten accepted somewhere or has gotten a likely letter, but right now I’m like the only one not accepted into a college -_-.

Anyone else out there in College Admissions limbo? Feel free to vent your frustrations here.

I feel your pain...Still waiting on 11 of the 12 schools I applied to. The only one I've heard back from so far is Emory (which accepted me)

eh calm down it's not like your life is over just wait and see. Emory is a good school and there is so much time left you people dont worry

I'm jealous of you all who had the money to pay the application fees for 10-14 colleges! AHH!

nah dont be this person didnt need to apply to that many schools. waste of money.

good luck to all of you, I'm actually really glad I got in ED and don't have to panic when the RD letters start coming in

ha ha chaoticcranium. looks like we are in the same boat i also got deffered from MIT ED. and i have applied to 14 places too. yup there is a lot of uncertainity. though i got in USC and ut austin in electrical engineering. and got rejected from ucla. though i had no problem with the fees i got fee waivers from 10 unis and had to pay only 4 uis the admission fees. best of luck to all of us

omg, 14.. i applied to 12, but already know from 4 of them .. all four were safety schools..

well dats wt happens when u dont have a conseler to tell you whihc unis r good fro you how to apply and what to do. i jus pickedup us news top engineering school rankings and applied to the top 14.

Well, now I'm rejected from MIT. . .freaking predictable. And even though I knew it was going to happen, it still completely shattered what confidence I had.

Now I'm waiting for 13 colleges. . .and I'm still not accepted anywhere. It's going to be a painful, depressing 2 weeks for me :(

hmm cranium u dont seem to have physics as an AP or SAT2. and ur math SAT2 scores a lili low. dat affects a lot if u r applying for any kind of engineerin. but u have gr8 ECs and research but no physics. dats a major problem

but then again i dun know which major u applied for so maybe physics doesnt matter at all

Chaotic, what other schools are they?

If it makes you feel better I'm in exactly the same boat as you. Rejected from MIT after deferral, and still waiting for 6 more schools. Indeed a painful, depressing 2 weeks for me too. :( But try to get your mind off it for a while; you're bound to get into at least one of the 13.

Desbravo - I'm taking AP Physics B this year (I wanted to take C, but B is a prerequisite in my school district for C), and I took AP Chemistry and AP Biology last year, so I'm keeping physics in there, even if its my least favorite of the three (I do enjoy Physics, just not as much as the other two).

thethoughtprocess - I also applied to Yale, Harvard, Princeton, Caltech, Columbia, Brown, U Penn, Dartmouth, Duke, Johns Hopkins, Cornell, Wash U in St. Louis, and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Indeed, those are extremely competitive schools, the most competitive in the nation - my theory is that since I can apply to a lot of schools, I'll go with it and hope for the law of averages to kick in and make sure I get into one of the schools I want.

Given this tactic, I'm all prepared for rejection, but having my first choice school reject me two weeks before the others come in (even though I saw it from a mile away) hit me pretty hard, especially since many of my friends got into their first choice already. Sorry if I overreacted a little, especially on the MIT board. . .I feel a little better now.

breadpitt - Thank you for your kind words, I'll try to keep up hope. Hopefully we'll both make it into some great schools. Best of luck to you.

Wow! I feel really bad for you. I applied to 10 but I've heard from all but 4. Those last four should come in sometime end of March or early April.

Good luck!

I haven't been rejected yet but I feel it coming. I applied to some reach schools and those are the ones I'm waiting on.

yessss chaotic. that's eeeexactly my strategy. I applied to a ridiculous number of great schools (w/ fee waivers) knowing and accepting the fact that i will be rejected from any number of them but also hoping that probability will work in my favor and that i'll get accepte d to at least one. so yeah I applied to - yale, harvard, dartmouth, princeton, williams, amherst, pomona, gtown, claremont mckenna, rice, emory, college of william and mary, uva, unc, trinity college, fsu (in case my theory fell through lol).
I've heard from fsu honors college, unc honors college, uva likely letter, williams early write, and college of william and mary early accept, so i'm 5 for 5 and honestly excited now that I do already have a few good choices just to see where i get in. (Yal'es my 1st choice tho)

I still have 9 schools from whom I'm anxiously awaiting word. I've already gotten into 2, Michigan and Arizona St. (both with some $), but I can't decide till I hear from everywhere else.
