Does anyone know when the next wave of notifications are suppose to come out for an EA decision?

Join the club. I am still waiting too and I even applied for EA. Well, from a few posts earlier (like a month earlier…) a poster said that his counselor told him that if the decisions weren’t available then (mid-Dec) it would be by the 1st week of Jan. Well, this week’s gone and I still have yet to hear from them. I also received an e-mail from the University saying that they intend to let us know no later than the end of Jan. Well, that’s another 3 weeks wait. So~~~And my counselor says we should expect a response “soon”.

I mean I understand the “patience is a virtue” thing, but I worked hard with my application and documents to meet the EA deadline so I could get a decision sooner than the others not because I am into the scholarship (not saying that the scholarship doesn’t matter); and now I have to wait an extra month for my decision. I would be so ****ed if I get rejected in the end. If they are gonna give me the blow anyway, might as well do it now…

But yeah, at least for now. No one really knows when the next wave of decisions will come. But fingers crossed.

^btw, the **** was not a swear word, but I don’t get why they censored that word. I meant to say *mad

I talked to admissions yesterday, because I was concerned about scholarships that have deadlines of 1/15. I was concerned that my S wouldn’t be considered for the scholarship he applied for if he hadn’t been formally accepted. I was told that they didn’t know why the applications weren’t all processed, but they assured me that there were 2 more “waves” of acceptance letters coming out…mid-January and more at the end of the month. They said that the department with the scholarship has access to students accounts and if their application was still in limbo(and everything was turned in by the EA deadline), that the department wouldn’t hold it against the student and they would still be considered for the scholarship. We had a similar experience with Purdue, however, their admissions was able to pull his application and accept him the same day after I called. Maybe OSU doesn’t have the ability to do that…I heard that they had 32,000 applicants this year. I agree, the waiting is horrific…but I went through this with my other son last year and I can tell you that when the day the letter arrives with an acceptance…all of the anguish you feel now will be forgotten Good luck!!

We are in the same boat and I checked today and still no change from Evaluation. And it is not just this decision - this will affect her housing options as well. What makes me even more upset it is I emailed the OSU Admissions Counselor for our region on Nov 8 about it not being updated and still showing incomplete and asked if I should send in hard copies. He said not that will slow down the process even more and cause confusion and to be patient. So I did as told and waited. 3-4 weeks later in early December I called again and talked to Admissions and they were shocked I was told not to send hard copies and that I should have done that. You could tell by the conversation I was given bad information by THEIR admissions rep. So we did end up sending hard copies - but it was a month later. Her application was finally marked ‘evaluation’ around Dec 10th. And here we still wait… I can’t believe OSU can’t pull some of these applications to make this right.

collegetimesfour. So when they said “mid-Jan”, do you think they meant this coming week? And do they only post decision on weekends, or do they do it on weekdays too? Thanks

I assume they meant this week, but I really don’t know… I’ve “heard” about the weekend notifications, but I don’t have any information to say if it’s going to be a weekend or weekday. Sorry…after going through this process last year with my son (and 17 colleges!), I’ve realized that it’s really out of my hands “It all works out in the end”

Woohoo - decision just came tonight. ADMITTED to THE Ohio State University!!!

Congrats!!! Except I am still waiting for mine… I am kind of giving up. maybe it’s because I applied as a music major. But the a admissions office told me I would receive my decision from the university first… So… Arg this is so frustrating!

Congratulations on being accepted! My son was Deferred. Kind of shocked…he had a 4.83 GPA this semester…a 4.2 Cumulative. He takes PSEO classes and has a 4.0 GPA. He made a 31 on his ACT (34 in Math and a 750 on Math II Subject Test). A.P. Bio, A.P. CS (with a 107 average), A.P. Physics, Dual Enrollment English (All A’s). PSEO - Calculus II (had a 105 average - top in his class),Philosophy. Now taking Financial Accounting, Astronomy and Psychology. Captain of Robotics team x3 years! - Competed at World Tournament - Twice!! Varsity Lacrosse player x2 years, Varsity Cross Country Runner, School Representative for Leadership Conference… He applied to the School of Engineering. Really shocked… I know that all parents think their children are worthy of being accepted, but I am dumbfounded at this decision! Thankfully, he’s already been accepted elsewhere, but they are all out of state! $$$$

chwu60 - Her common app issues finally got fixed around Dec 5th if that helps you compare time wise. 2 other students from her school didn’t get their issues corrected till some time after her (not sure just when). They have not gotten their decision yet either.
collegetimesfour - wow I am surprised! She applied to and it looks like her acceptance is for the College of Engineering as it says that on her admittance - though I was told she is not actually accepted in Biomedical until after her first year but that is listed as her ‘plan’. She has some impressive stats but your son looks like he is right there with herr. Her ACT was 29, 40 hours of PSEO, top 5 in her class, lots of leadership and community activities. I have heard they got a tremendous amount of applications this year and many deferred will be moved to accepted. Does he want to wait to see if that happens?

I don’t know… My application center says all of my documents are complete so I am assuming that they didn’t have any problems with my common app. I mean if they did, they would have sent me an email asking for the documents or the status bar for the documents would say “incomplete”. Should I email them and double check?

Btw, all my documents said completed well before mid-nob and now the message in on the webpage says my application is complete and is in the process of being evaluated.

chwu60 Was it marked complete before Nov 1 for Early Action or after that date? Although hers wasn’t marked complete by Nov 1st it should have been as it was the Common Application glitch problem and they sent us a letter saying it would be treated like it was received timely. As long as it is saying evaluation on the OSU web page they should have everything. Do you have the web address for your regional admission counselor? We communicated with him through this process.

Well. Actually, my last document was my bank statement and it was turned in on nov 1st. But I called their office personally just to make sure if I still meet the EA deadline and they said yes. I even got an email confirming that I qualify for EA. Dunno maybe it has something to do with me applying as a music major. Oh and I am international so I don’t really have a regional counselor. But I did email the international admission office and they said that I would receive my decision from the university first and then my audition result from the school of music. So that’s why I have been anticipating this weekend greatly. Now it looks like I have to till the end of the month. Or even worse, till
March…

college1965: He’s pretty dumbfounded at the moment. As a junior, a professor of the graduate studies in Physics asked if he would consider applying for the FEH program at OSU…that was over a year ago! The fact that he can hold a respectable conversation in subjects like… quantum physics and string theory is pretty remarkable for someone his age. (Maybe it’s only amazing to me because of my “lack of understanding” I tell myself that maybe it was his essay they really hated I don’t know?? He still has a few applications out there for regular decision. He’s gotten a few looks for his work in Robotics by other Engineering schools, so I don’t know where his heart will take him. Hopefully, someone will take notice that he was passed over and will change his status to “accepted”. OSU was close to home…so it was at the top of my list :)
