So, again, should I accept my spot on the waitlist? Thanks.

Do you have any problems losing your deposit at another school?

You really have nothing to lose except your deposit at another school. Plus, you’re not obligated to accept Rochester if and when they offer you a spot from the waitlist. If URochester is higher up on your list it might be worth it. Judging from these boards and what I know from our local school district, a lot of kids who were accepted have no intention of going.

There are no guarantees, of course, but if you really want to attend, make it clear to Rochester and go for it! (Just make sure you have a deposit on another school!)

Thanks to both of you for your kind and encouraging advice. I know I have nothing to lose, so I’ll definitely accept. My chances at UMich are currently slim (apparently, those who have yet to be accepted before April 15 can consider themeselves rejected).

Hence, which school is better overall, UMich or U of R? I understand some of you may be biased…

so it looks like waitlists and denials… i cant believe this

Apparently, a waitlist wouldn’t be the worst (if this is your number one choice, or at least a top choice). Maybe you should read what Kwibbles and acme had to say, save for me to explain what is a simple read above.

a waitlist is pretty bad. because i probably would’nt get in anyways, and i would have to apply to another school first while waiting even longer..

i will be playing this stupid waiting game even longer.

I got the UR Alternate List today. I am set on BU because I thought I would get a rejection, but I dunno, I have feelings I should try for this waitlist thing…

How hard is it to get a spot?

Again, read above.

UMich vs U or R== University of Michigan has a much higher profile, and much bigger alumni network but then it’s a much bigger school. Huge sports school, excellent music school. U of Rochester has the music school but it’s much smaller and not part of the campus. We looked at both but Michigan was deemed and even greater reach and too large for my S. However, I have known graduates from there who absolutely loved it, thus the huge alumni base.

The U of R has never accepted anyone from the waitlist in the past, but that doesn’t mean they won’t this year. I heard that the acceptance rate dropped to around 10% this year…

and still nothing!

I got a rejection letter today

Funny they said there were acceptances to come but as it’s proven here, all of the later letters have either been waitlist or rejection. I think it’s wrong to make people wait later than others only to hear no…

EveryoneCalmDown, I am sure you have other good choices and will have a great college experience elsewhere.

I got my letter today and was accepted, but my friend got waitlisted. I think I got in because of NROTC.

So are the odds of getting off the waitlist very low?

Good ol’ waitlist.

3% of us got waitlisted and I bet 90% of that 3% are on CC.

I’d say the chances are really low. I would NOT wait after May 1st for UR…especially after what they did with the delaying of the letters..

I’m kind of sad…but I’m really happy I’ll have an easier time deciding where to go. Hope you guys do too!

Yeah, I replied back for that waitlist but not expecting anything big. I am already set on BU!

My S also got denied on Saturday, after wating all these months. I really think they saved the rejections for last and I think thats unfair.

10% acceptance rate? LOL WHAT?
