My DD was accepted by a small liberal arts college in the south that she loves. She has already received an academic scholarship and need based $. She attended their “art day” on March 20 where she presented her portfolio and interviewed with the department. It is April 12 and her admissions/fin aid rep keeps saying that it will be any day.
The art department assured my dd that she would receive an art scholarship but that they had sent their requests to financial aid. Just wondered if this is a common practice? Our other two children didn’t have the extra talent/art presentation so didn’t know if this was normal? (Taking so long to send) DD’s friends have all committed while we are still trying to figure out if we can afford this school. Frustrating for us all.
Maybe call and let them know that she is very interested but you need final numbers to decide. How much more would she get with the art scholarship and would it stack on top of the merit scholarship or would it replace the need based aid? Some schools limit the amount of scholarships and grants not to exceed tuition.
Could you afford it without this scholarship? You need answers to some of these questions from the school.
