Still waiting... questions about decison timing.

All the acceptances are rolling in for my sons other applications. We have sent in a deposit for his favorite assuming USNA is a no go. As the time goes by with no LOA, and with no status change on dodmerb since July, we are wondering if there is still a chance. When do the majority of candidates really hear about decisions? If they are still making decisions and appointments this late in the year, what is the deadline date to reply? Sorry, I'm rambling here...but we just would like to hear some finality one way or another about USNA. Can anyone share prior year dates of acceptances?
eta..He got into all the ROTC schools he applied to even though he did not get the scholarship. Is he just not a strong enough candidate for the Navy? I've mentioned his stats in prior posts.

My son is sitting in the same spot -- hasn't heard one way or the other from USNA. We are heading off tonight to visit his top two "traditional" schools so he can make a decision along those lines.

I think the reply date, Yes or No, for USNA is May 1st. I think most offers go out by April 15th. That being said, my Mid recieved a late acceptance due to DODMERB waiver action and we were told by admission office not to sweat the deadline too much just get everything in asap. I know the waiting is hard, believe me we know. Stay positive and good luck. Official notice from Senator's staff was 4/24/07.

My S is in same situation with USNA. Accepted to USMA and USAFA, though USNA is likely first choice. He's moving forward with visits to other SAs, but still hoping for USNA.

In early March, BGO said it would be a few more weeks.

I believe May 1st is the deadline to accept or decline for SAs, as well as many traditional schools.

Last year, D did not receive appointment notification until early May, after the May 1 decision deadline for other schools. She had received nomination letter from Vice President in late March. A busy few weeks for returning everything to USNA, but it all worked out. Waiting is a killer, though. Keep positive!

If you did not receive notice from USNA until after 1 May, what did you do about other schools? Did you accept before 1 May, and then withdraw after receiving the Appointment?

unless you go early decision, you can always withdraw your acceptance after may 1st to what ever school you accept. you'll probably lose your deposit though.

Every year there are offers made after May 1. My daughter was not officially offered her Civil prep scholarship until after May 1.
If you are still in the running the end of April then deposit at your backup school. You can then withdraw and sometimes get some of the money back.

I know last year a kid who had accepted his appointment got into another school off the waitlist in June. His appointment was offered to another. If after May 1 there are still openings in the class the academy will continue to offer appointments until the class is full.

2012mom ~ Second choice school was kept in the loop, they offered us the opportunity to make just a $25 deposit (we did), and then we called when everything was finalized from USNA and DODmerb waiver. Rollercoaster definitely started before I-Day!
