She applied to honors too, but don’t know if she got in. Not even sure how they announce it. If via email, she’s pretty bad about checking that ugh!
@Lenoir If you are impatient while waiting for your mail delivery, sign up for “Informed Delivery” through the USPS. They send you an email everyday with a picture of piece of mail you are receiving that day. It makes the waiting a little more tolerable
@MomMartha sure:
1450 SAT
Gpa 3.8
OOS
Tons of ECs
8 APs
Got into Honors in Jan
Excellent essay writer. I think it might have pushed her over the edge.
They also sent an offer for a $500 travel voucher to visit for GoBuckeye Day. She has senior trip so can’t go.
It’s labeled as a “special event for admitted students”. Starts April4th with a welcome dinner then the 5th has a full day of activities. Sounds interesting though, especially with the travel voucher. @Lenoir
Please note that the $500 travel voucher can be used for any type of admitted students day, not just GoBuckeye Day (read the notification card at the bottom). The regular admitted students day and the admitted students day for the department/school of interest are both substantial and worthwhile. Both can be taken the same day. The content can vary from day to day so you have to check the calendar carefully for days of interest.
OSU is apparently slow about posting information about GoBuckeye Day. It is on April 5 and is an all-day event. The only reason I know the particular day is it was mentioned in an OSU mailing we received yesterday.
If a student gets rejected from the honors program, is it safe to say the national buckeye and other scholarships are out of the question? My daughter has the stats for them but was rejected from honors tonight and she’s more than bummed. We were hoping for some merit money but the chances are looking slim.
@cllp2023 My son did not apply for the honors college when he was admitted to OSU for Fall 2016 but still received the National Buckeye and Maximus. Not sure whether applying to honors and being rejected while still being admitted to the university overall is a similar scenario for comparison purposes though.
My son was accepted into the College of Engineering and CSE in late December 2018, but he has not received any out of state scholarship information to date. He was recently provided a $600 grant to visit the Ohio State campus and has been accepted into honors. He is getting nervous because there seem to be a lot of merit scholarships awarded already. Stats: 1460 SAT, 1500 superscore. 4.35 weighted GPA. Twelve (12) AP courses… Tons of EC’s including several varsity sports, community service and leadership. Essays appear to be strong. Very well-rounded applicant.
He has been offered merit scholarships at other Big 10 campuses, so unless Brutus Buckeye can hopefully assist with an out of state merit scholarship, he will have no choice but to attend another campus… He really wants to be a Buckeye…
Did they provide sign up info for the April 5th Go Buckeye day? We finally got a card in the mail yesterday for 2 dates in March. We will be out of the country at the end of March visiting an ill relative, so the beginning of March was our only option. I spent a crazy amount on airfare since it was last minute and a few hours after I book it, we get an email with the second March date as the first March date was full. Thank god I booked Southwest (which I never do) as I could change the dates without a change fee. However, I only know of the April 5th date through this forum. I called and asked if it was true that there was an event on April 5th and all I was told is that a card will be mailed out mid-late March for it. It would be great if they would send admitted visit info with the offers rather than last minute as most of us OOS have to fly in!
We are still waiting for honors notification and scholarship info. Son was accepted to Engineering school as of January 15th. I think his stats should qualify him for scholarship - 35 ACT and 3.87 GPA. I don’t understand why everything is so piecemeal with OSU. Making me nervous. Definitely his top choice as he wants to do marching band but he can’t go without Merit aid.
Still waiting for Buckeye also . Engineering Accepted in Jan. Visiting Friday to take a tour. We are also waiting for other schools to send scholarship letters. Hoping we will know from everyone in next 2 weeks . Good luck everyone.
