I am currently a Freshman transfer applicant student from in-state.

So I applied January 13th, but my materials took all the way til February 22 to get in. (transcript issues)

I was changed from a first choice business major to general studies about three weeks ago because I didn't have the right amount of math classes to be reviewed.

Last semester, I went to McCombs School of Business at "tu" and came back home for community college for this spring semester.

My GPA at UT was 3.7. My dual credit grades from this community college was a 4.0.
SAT's critical score=1300 (Math 670 and Reading 630)
I didn't have community service for my freshman year though.

Do you think i'll be able to get in? I've been waiting for so long!

I’m no expert as I’m only a HS senior now, but (don’t hate me for saying this!) UT’s business school is much more highly ranked than Mays. Your GPA is great; that’s on a 4.0 scale, I’m assuming?

As long as your extracurrics and essays are fine, you look good to go (:

@Shen, Yeah, it’s out of a 4.0. That’s how colleges do it. My high school did 4.5 scale though, and I had a 4.5 coming out of high school.

@Happy. I have a question, do you know if May’s accepts sophomores into their business programs. As in transfer internally after sophomore year? Congrats on UT though man.

@Pierre, A lot of people call me crazy for pulling this, but I really just didn’t like UT’s atmosphere and their business school so much… There were plenty of reasons not worth getting into. lol It wasn’t a large difference in money compared to A&M.

Wow, from McCombs to Mays. You have a pretty solid GPA. Do you have all the business courses completed? Pretty competitive applicant even without EC’s. Though I think happydk would get in before you.

The requirements may be a bit different for someone who transferred in, considering most people will not have nor be able to obtain at least 30 TAMU hours.

Assuming you’re able to take 30 hours at TAMU sophmore year while fulfilling the course requirements, getting into Mays should not be an issue.

@Xcell and Happy yeah, I’m working on most of the core requirements right now.

and that’s what I expect to do for my 30 hours that I expect to do as a sophomore next year, take care of all the core requirements to apply for Mays as well as the basic requirements overall. Do you think I’ll be able to take a few major specific classes without being in the business school yet? My assumption is that I wouldn’t be able to. I just hope I can so I’m not wasting time.

Also, I have a lot of transfer credits so staying under 75 credits will be a tight fit!
That’s what I’m worried about too.

You should. For example, I know you can take financial and managerial accounting at most schools without being a business major and the same goes for the econs. You should be able to make finite and business cal as well.

When you look through the catalog, I’m sure you’ll find overlapping courses which will work towards your ultimate degree plan.
