still waiting

For people that are still waiting on April 1st decisions from first choice schools, are you guys sending in housing contracts to U of I, or waiting to find out from the other school? I'm not sure what I should do because I'll definately be at U of I if I don't get into UVA, but that still is an IF.

I would apply for housing as soon as possible. While UIUC is not in my top 4, I applied for housing in January, since I believe you get a full refund if you decline their admissions by May 1st.

you do? get a refund?
can someone confirm this?

I'm not the best with legal mumbo gumbo, but according to a FAQ on http://www.housing.uiuc.edu/contact/faqs/index.asp?faq=contract#cancel you can.

Canceling your Contract/Leaving the residence halls:

Q: I will not be attending the University. How do I cancel my contract?

A: If you wish to cancel your University Residence Hall contract based upon one of the reasons listed in section 4 of the Contract, complete the online contract cancellation form and send supporting documentation to the Housing Information Office (e.g., letter from your department verifying graduation, study abroad or co-op). You will forfeit your $100 advance payment if you cancel after May 1. If you are not canceling your contract for one of the reasons approved in section 4 of the Contract, you are subject to a $2,000 cancellation settlement charge.

(For those who don't want to open up the PDF, not attending UIUC is under section 4.)

thanx!!! ^-^
