....no update on the new science building? Has construction even started?

nope…

all capital projects (exp new business building, which is done anyways) are on halt until economy “recovers”… whatever that means…

What used to be a lifeless pile of dirt looked today like a festival of bulldozers and tractors.

So yes, construction started, but the workers are in what appears to be the initial stage of laying the foundation. I think until they can situate the mud and dirt where they like it–flatten this and dig up that–it’ll be hard to speculate when we’ll see some vials and white coats.

I’m also really excited.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it takes awhile, the University has a pretty bad credit rating (they are in junk) and high yield isn’t moving at all. It may take some time to raise the money if it is true that they haven’t yet.

S&P raised the university’s credit rating from BBB+ to A- last September, which is not at all a “junk” rating. As for the Science Center, work is presently being done to lay cables and other underground fixtures; this is the construction going on next to the ICC, on what used to be Tondorf Road.

Are you guys sure on that?

They might be just laying wires (etc) for the business school… ;)

The business building is complete. Look inside, all the lights work and all the furniture is in. They closed off tondorf road near the back of ICC because of the foundation and utility installation for the science center. The groundwork of the science center is currently being laid out. This isn’t some construction project that will fall by the wayside. The university understands how important it is to renovate their science facilities.
