Stingy Aid?

do you know if it's too late to report UC as my first choice college to qualify for the University's National Merit Scholarship?...b/c honestly - i didn't know until i got accepted that it would be my first choice.

After waaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiittttttttttiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnggggggggggg forever for the acceptance letter from UofC, April2 (Saturday), we still didn't know what to do, because no merit aid came through. The letter said our package would be sent within 2 weeks. Lo and behold! The FA package came on Monday. apparently the dillo let the pony express deliver this time to TX.

We are reversed this time! The acceptance letter came a few days prior to yours, but the dillo with the fin aid letter has yet to appear in our neck of the woods!

Glory: You have until April 20 to inform the National Merit people of a change in 1st choice schools. Check out their site, and call them. You'll need your ID number and some other number, but they'll look it up for you. They need everything in writing, but once you have all your information, you can fax it in to National Merit as well (and fax number is on the site).

Hey evita! The dillo made his way down our block today! I find the aid fair, in keeping with Northwestern's offer. Not the best, but by far better than the worst.

Pesky armadillo - glad he found his way at last!

I still have not received my financial aid statement here in Pennsylvania, nor do I know why people are calling the mailman a "dillo."

LOL Briney! We are in Texas where the waddling armadillo (small tank-like critter indigenous to these parts) is blamed for the slow mail. Much like a reference to "snail mail" or "pony express."

Hahaha, damn. I knew what an armadillo is, of course, but never heard of that regional reference before. Thanks for explaining. ;)

thanx jack :-D

heh..."dillo"...i live in tx and i've never heard it used - but it fits.nicely.

I know this doesn't have anything to do with what you guys are talking about, but can you clarify something for me.

I'm National Merit for next year, and I have to turn in that little two choice paper. Are you guys saying that the decision isn't final? I was under the impression that whichever schools I put down are the ones I have to stick with forever!

Inkling, are you not way past the deadline for turning that in? Anyhow, you can put School A down as your school, and if it changes, then fax them a revised paper with the new school written in. Follow up with a phonecall. The change can be made in June or July even, as NMS will not be sending any funds so soon.

Before you mail in the original, make sure to keep a copy for yourself. NMS is also very helpful when you call them up.
