No stockings here (we’re Jewish!) but thinking of getting the affirmation cards for the attendants at my daughter’s/future son-in-law’s wedding in November. Will post on the wedding thread too!
Since it is still early, you can check the price history of an Amazon item at:
That’s such a great idea!
This shortbread advent calendar was in my FB thread this morning. Yummy, but you are definitely paying for the novelty of the advent calendar (and maybe portion control). You can get essentially the same Walker’s shortbread assortment at TJ’s during the holidays for less than half the price. 2023 Limited Edition Advent Calendar - Walker's Shortbread Inc.
Zulily has some advent calendars.
I’m going to buy some Penzey gift cards for stockings. Sale through Sunday two $25 cards for $35.00.
I bought the Penzey gift cards and I was going to choose some spices once I get the cards for stocking stuffers.
Thank you! You reminded me to buy White Company Advent calendars. I’ve been too late for the last few years. And now I have ideas for others on my list.
I saw that Adagio Teas has their tea Advent calendars on its website, both looseleaf and teabag varieties.
I’ve never had Adiago tea before. Is it good?
I used to gift Davids Tea advent calendars back when each day was a mini tin. I haven’t bought it in a few years.
Our Costco has the Bonne Mamam 12 Days of Christmas packs for $15.99 (item #1527954). The spread flavors listed on the back are:
- Apricot and banana spread
- Carmel with cinnamon
- Cherry with spices
- Fig with Cardamon
- Grapefruit and dragon fruit
- Mango, raspberry and lime
- Mirabelle plum with spices
- Peach with jasmine flower
- Quince with chunks
- Rhubarb and strawberry
- Strawberry and guava
- Sweet orange, guava and lime
I don’t see it on the Costco website, but Costco does sell two packs of Borgo de Medici cookie advent calendars.
I need to order the Bonne Mamam advent calendar for 1 if not all 3 kids (it was a HOT gift last year!) and that Costco price/size is tempting but those are some REALLY out there flavors - just a lot of flavors out of the ordinary. Not sure it’s a good thing or not…
That’s why I listed the flavors. A little too quirky for my taste.
I’ve heard good things about it, but it’s been awhile since I’ve had any. (Not due to anything bad about them, but I was blessed with an overabundance of my favorite tea (Harney’s Green Hot Cinnamon Spice) and I just never really explored Adagio, but it was recommended to me before.)
This link does have a listing of Adagio teas that are alternatives to Davids Tea teas…
We have gotten the Bonne Mamam advent calendar for the past few years. The flavors sound out there, but are always delicious. Some of our favorites in the past have been the wildest sounding ones. I am betting the apricot and banana will be great despite sounding like a weird pairing.
I am all up for trying new flavors and I am not looking for “grape” in my assortment (though I’ll bet Bonne Mamam would do grape GREAT) but the list above seems to be more “obscure” in quantity than usual.
But those jars are little, so try it and if you don’t like it, move on to the next jar. I don’t like grapefruit, but maybe it is good with dragon fruit? I’d need to know what ‘chunks’ are in the quince.
Quince has firm apple-like texture and is very flavorful. We had a quince tree, and I used to make my own preserves with fruit chunks in it. I think that means the preserves are not blended, so have fruit chunks in them… I bet the fruit chunks in the quince preserves are delicious.
Penzey’s gift card offer still good today (Monday). Trial sizes are also on sale. For several years I’ve read the Penzey’s love on here but only this year thought that my sons might actually be at the point in life where they’d welcome good spices as a gift. I was most interested for one son and checking locations there’s actually a store in Evanston, IL where he just started grad school at Northwestern. So he’ll get the gift cards and the other two (and I) will get the assortment of trial sizes I bought. And their gift boxes may be my solution for my hard to shop for brothers’ this year!
My favorite is the Irish Breakfast. DH likes the Earl Grey Bravo.
I was “influenced” by these today - leather cord straps - I’ll order one pack and split them into a few for each stocking. They are good for cords in your house, your purse, car console, corded headphones, etc.
