Does anyone here invest or play around with the stockmarket.. and at what age did u start.. and how did u learn

You don't play around with large amounts of money unless it's fictional :D

I do virtually. My current portfolio has around 20% gain in three months.

This guy I know made a fortune off of GOOG's IPO BH 2nd class...

Really irishblues, how do you do that?

http://virtualstockexchange.com

I manage my portfolio and do research on Google Finance though.

there's a fantasy stock market application on facebook and i do that

investing less than 10k is pretty pointless, and before internet trading it was also impractical.

I think the OP was talking about the real deal, not an online game. :P

My father is a certified financial advisor with a huge firm, and he has helped me to invest in mutual funds, and I am working on trying to build a large and diverse portfolio. Let's just say that I plan to retire well.

I started the summer before my sophomore year. In the state competition last Spring, I ranked #1 out of 2000+ teams in Florida with about 48% gains in about 3 months.

Unfortunately, one of my star companies suffered a minimal loss but because I held so many shares of it, it really affected my portfolio.

Anyway, I'm currently practicing for next year's competition. If I were you, I'd read alot to have a little background information. However, info will only get you so far. The REAL learning comes with practice. Try those "Stock Market Simulators" over and over again. At the beginning, you'll probably lose, but with time you'll learn what to do and what not to do and in which situations.

Good luck :)
