I was wondering if anyone could give me details about living in Stone-D, especially the triples! How big are the rooms? Does the dorm have older or newer architecture? How are the dorm temperatures during the winter? Is the dorm particularly dark (i.e. lacking natural light from the windows)? Is it known as a social dorm? How is the food in the dining hall? What is the exercise room like?

Any details about Stone-D would be appreciated!

I didn’t live in StoneD, so I can’t answer many of your questions. However, I thought you should know that the dining hall is often open until 10 p.m., which is pretty nice! Also, the dorms are close to the academic quad and library. It’s a good location.

My D lived in Stone-D (double) last year as a first-year. There was a triple across the hall and it was a decent size. The doubles are tiny with shared tiny closet and my D would often store things in her buddies triple room next door b/c they had some extra space.

The food is good according to my D and she gained a little more than her 15! Stone-D cafeteria does stay open till like 10:00pm at night but I believe she said it closes on weekends.

I didn’t think the dorm was particularly dark and they had two side-by-side windows in their tiny room (pretty windows). D didn’t complain about it being cold, but for those couple of hot months in the beginning, they needed a fan.

D did not like the location b/c she is an athlete and the KSC is on the opposite side of campus, but Stone-D is a quicker walk to town than most dorms.

D made many friends in Stone-D and I think it is fairly social, but D also hung out with other athletes and CS students that didn’t happen to live in Stone-D.

D never mentioned an exercise room but she worked out at the KSC so likely wouldn’t have used it. The mail room is across campus too (Wang), but the library is right next door!!!

If you have a triple on the ground floor, it is gigantic and comes with individual closets. Stone-D is one of those dorms where all the rooms are different sizes/shapes so it really depends on luck of the draw. The location is good, the dining hall is open late during the week but closed on weekends, and the community is great (lots of lifers)

Stone-D also has an INCREDIBLE residence staff that organize a lot more events than some other places on campus, so the community really is wonderful. You’re also attached to the late night dining hall (open till 10pm on weekdays) but not open on weekends.

The dorm was recently renovated, so the interior is quite nice, with an exercise room or two with ellipticals and treadmills.

A few of the rooms are quite small, but it doesn’t seem to be consistent.
