Stone Davis

Can anyone share what they know of this dorm?

I lived in Stone-D last year and it was awesome! I understad that it has been remodeled fairly recently, and it shows. We have a beautiful dining hall- much bigger than most of the other dining halls. The rooms are nice, too, especially the first year triples. I lived in a double and, although it was smaller for Stone-D, it was still normal-sized for Wellesley. Don, the residence director, was amazing. He knew everyone's name within a few weeks and was always so nice and helpful. The bathrooms are also some of the nicest at Wellesley. They're huge and always amazingly clean. Stone-D is father from the campus center and the other dorms, but its always nice and quiet. It is also close to the Science Center. Many rooms have a lake view. Have fun next year there!

thanks!!--

Stone-D has the best dining hall food in my opinion.

Stone D is a pretty nice dorm and one of the desirable ones, but never in my circle of friends because we couldn't deal with the fact that Stone D's dining hall is closed on weekends. Not that I lived in Tower last year and had breakfast in Bates at least once a week last semester....

Stone D has the salad bar to your immediate left when you walk in, so the raw veggies glare at you and you fill your plate with them since it's the first thing you see. Hence slightly better eating. This year I found the lunch rush at Stone D to be much calmer than Bates or Tower. It also has the added bonus of being right next to the Exchange Bus, so you could leave at 12:56 to catch the 1:00 bus. I think people began to discover Bates and it killed a bit of the "the less crowded" ambience that results from its huge size. Tower is just a mess during lunch. Avoid.

In general Bates, Tower and Stone D are better than any of the other dining halls in the quad because they are larger. Many people do have a soft spot for Pomeroy because the Kosher/veggie thing makes the menu different from everywhere else, so less ... mass prepared. The Pomeroy desserts have a reputation for being amazing, but I've missed those nights when I eat there. I'm a big fan of Tower and Bates.
