Stoneleigh Burnham Equestrian Program

Anyone here know anything about Stoneleigh Burnham's Equestrian Program? What's great (and not so great) about their horse program and team? How many people are typically on their team? How serious/competitive/successful are they? How often do they practice/take lessons or clinics, etc.?

I don’t know about the IEA program in particular, but I take lessons there on Sundays. Great staff–Stacy is wonderful, as are the other instructors. They have some pretty nice horses, as well. It seems like a friendly team to me, but I’m an outsider and can’t speak to your other questions.

I think it’s good. For one thing it’s one of the only NE boarding schools to offer an equestrian program. Most of those schools are all-girls,btw. It seems really legit though. Supportive community, IB program, huge emphasis on debate and rhetoric. I like it. I’ll be applying there next year.

FYI: Dana Hall School has an excellent equestrian team and the barns are very convenient to the rest of campus… depending on which dorm you are in, you could be as close as a 5 min. walk from the barn! Check them out – (assuming you are a girl! LOL) – add in the top notch academics and convenient location to Boston and I think it is worth a look. Good luck!

Miss Porter’s also has an equestrian program, using Avon Valley Farms as their barn. They have an IEA team, can board your own horses and offer lessons, for competitive or novice riders.

Kent (co-ed) has an equestrian program and so does Linden Hall (all girls).

The Taft equestrian program is great, so is Thacher’s.
