Mushaboom blue - I'm going to be stuck there too :(

Just an update: I got my second pick, Hardenburgh. The good doubles are going so fast, though...

Good luck, you guys. <3

Congrats on getting your second choice! =)

I got Hegeman for next year and my lottery number was over 10,000. Single housing has already passed, however, it goes by credits and random lottery numbers rather than low lottery numbers. Since I have over 90 credits, it was fairly easy for me to get housing on college ave. It may be something you want to keep in mind for the future. What is nice this year is that all selections are online and you have a login time. I was a transfer student last year, and it is very hard to get your campus of choice. Many of transfers last year were placed in the hotel. That is also where people with high lotery numbers get placed. I had a high lottery number last year (about 9,500) and was placed in permanent stay at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, which is wonderful minus the internet (the connection is unreliable at best). I can’t complain about maid service, a 24 hr gym, a full size bed, or a swimming pool/jacuzzi, 2 lounges every floor. Also, I don’t have to have a meal plan, which is also a plus. Hotel staff is really nice. Parking is free. 20% off at hotel restaurant (real food that is actually good unlike the so-called food at the dining hall). Also, most rooms have flat screen tvs and some people have really big rooms. Its about a 12 minute bus ride to/from college ave and the busses run every 20 minutes. If they are doing Crowne plaza and you want pictures, I can send them to you. :)

Yes, lottery numbers are for returning students only. Freshmen are generally placed on Livingston, which is considered the freshmen campus.

They did permanent hotel stay for the 09-10 year and will most likely do it again if they have enough people. If not, they will have temporary hotel housing and then put those students on campuses wherever they have room by spring semester. For students who opted to do temporary hotel housing instead of permanent hotel housing for the 09-10 year, most of those students were placed on Livingston as far as I know. This year is the first year they have had a permanent stay option. However, temp. hotels have been in effect for some time. It is highly doubtful that you will be without housing.

The people at the hotels don’t need a permit and the parking at the hotel is free as far as I know. Can they then get a commuter permit and ignore the whole hotel shuttle thing? If that’s the case, hotels might not be all that bad. Otherwise, it would suck as all my classes are going to be on Busch (engineering).

Beast Morgan: Getting a parking permit is actually a good idea. You are allowed to do that especially since parking at the hotel is free. Rutgers even suggest that if you want, you can get a permit so that you can park your car on campus and take the campus bus if you don’t feel like waiting for the shuttle.

Get a permit to park on Busch so you can be close to your classes and not rely on the shuttle.

(Double posting!)

So, anyone who lived in the hotels want to give me an idea of how your experience was? Most likely I will be put in one since my lottery number is 6,000 (bleh). I don’t think I will have the same luck of finding space on campus this time. (might have to resort to commuting 50 minutes or finding off campus housing and be screwed).

You can get a parking permit at another campus as if you were an on-campus resident there. However, they do not allow you to get a campus permit for college ave. You pay regular on-campus charges for the permit at either Busch, Livingston, Cook, or Douglass. I just used the shuttle since all my classes were on college ave and it is about a 10-12 minute bus ride to the student center on college ave. Keep in mind that you can always park your car at Sears for free if you have to go to Cook often. The EE and the F busses go to Sears.

I live at the hotel now (THE CROWNE PLAZA). It is pretty nice. Rooms are really nice! but the internet is super slow. If any of you want to know about the hotel, you can contact me directly at cfeldner@eden.rutgers.edu and I can send you pictures via e-mail or give you my phone number to discuss the various amenities that the hotel has to offer.

wondering if anyone has a thought about this situation- my lottery number is 2714. just found out doubles selection numbers go from 16-5868. my time is monday night at 8pm to select. do i have a chance at Stonier? What college av. dorms would be good for second choice- ones with clean bathrooms, nice rooms, etc. What are the river dorms like? Anyone know anything about New Gibbons on Cook?

anyone have pictures of inside of Stonier, river dorms, or New Gibbons?

As far as college ave goes, Hardenburgh (I don’t know if I spelled that correctly) is the only one of the river dorms that has air-conditioning. Personally, I don’t like river dorms. H. is the only choice I would consider just b/c of air-conditioning. Other than that, I think the quads are nice. I can’t speak about the inside, but the outside has a nicer appeal than the riverdorms with gazebos and benches all around. Cook has the best food. I lived in the Newells; it was quiet and had a pretty atmosphere. I hear New Gibbons isn’t that great though. All bathrooms, as far as I know are clean.

thanks for the reply!

I lived in Hardenbergh and I can say that it is pretty decent. The rooms are a nice size and YES we did have air conditioner and heat (for the winter – the room gets hot within 2 minutes).

I live in a College Avenue quad dorm right now I can say that the rooms are quite smaller than what I had been used to when I was living in the river dorms – and I mean small. But it is a bit cozier and you have a better chance of getting to know people on your floor unless you keep your door locked all of the time. The bathrooms are clean and just okay =\ It kind of reminds me of the public restrooms on campus, except with shower stalls and not just sinks and toilets.

If I were you, I’d go with the river dorms though if you don’t mind not having that loving-feel good community that the College avenue quads have.

Also have you considered Clothier? That tends to be popular amongst upperclassmen too (I think because of dorm parties). I’ve been inside and seen it, and it seems kind of chill.

Got into Clothier. Can anybody tell me anything about it? Anyone have any indoor room photos? thanks
