Stony Brook Chances

I am a junior in high school and am presently deciding which colleges I would like to apply to. I am fairly competitive, but admission data from SBU show that the school is a bit more selective than I expected. Do you think I have a good shot?

GPA- 3.7 (uw)

ACT-30 (Plan to retake)

I have enrolled in mostly honors level classes. I have taken AP American history, and will be taking four AP courses in my senior year (Bio., Calc., Gov., and Spanish).

ECs
-I have participated in FIRST Robotics (FRC) for three years, and will be president next year.
-Mentored an FLL team... ~70 hours.
-I am also on a Science Olympiad team.
-I have over 170 hours of research experience in a lab at RPI's CBIS.

I plan to major in BME, and to attend graduate school. All that matters in the end is where I can get my Ph.d; SBU seems a very cost effective choice.

Thanks for your input!

I go to a school that has around 200 kids apply to stony brook each year and the average kid who is accepted has around a 90 weighted gpa and 1750 SAT so I think you’ll be fine don’t worry.
