I most likely won’t be attending SBU, hopefully me declining the offer opens up a spot for one of you on the waitlist
When do they start notifying the wait listed students? I am really anxious! :((
•~• @anon9362 may I know your stats?
Hey guys! I’m a current Stony Brook freshmen, so if you have any student questions, let me know! (Also, for those of you nervous about being waitlisted, I was waitlisted too and got in, so don’t lose hope Also, to answer a question I’m sure may come, I found out I was accepted May 7)
the college app process has been a little bizarre to say the least…almost no rhyme or reason to it…my son was accepted to SBU two weeks after applying at the beginning of Jan…OOS Bio major…the bizarre part is his stats are so borderline (based on what i read for online data from several college ranking sites) that i almost didn’t bother to have him apply, i thought it was a waste of an application fee…once he go accepted to SBU i thought that’s it, he’ll get into the other 4 schools he applied for…wrong, wait listed for Umass Lowell…huh?..still waiting to hear from Umass Amherst, not feeling too optomistic …for those still waiting to hear, good luck and keep the faith…
@mandy731 if you don’t mind me asking what were your stats and major?
@mandy731 I keep hearing the campus empties out on the weekends. My daughter will not be close enough to come home every weekend. Is this true?
We know from meal card data that there are thousands of students on campus most weekends. Yes, there will always be a population that goes home, but if she’s active and involved, she’ll definitely find things to do and people to do them with.

I feel bad because I did not post this earlier. Ah well, better late than never, right?
Well, some of my friends and I decided to apply to Stony Brook, and among them I was kind of in the bottom academically. Here’s my app info:

Decent family income (both my parents went to good schools)
I applied around Jan. 10, got accepted via email Jan. 25. I applied as an in-state applicant.
Admission is pretty strange. I know some people with the same or higher stats as me get waitlisted. I applied for EOP but was overqualified. Applied in Dec and accepted in late Jan.
