It says on their site that if you have earned fewer than 24 or so credits that you must submit your HS transcript and SAT's. I am a freshman and just finished my first semester with 15 credits. I am in my second semester, currently taking 15 credits. I am applying now as a transfer to Stony Brook for Fall 2007 admission. So, I have EARNED 15 credits, but I am undergoing 15 credits currently which will come out to 30 credits by the end of spring semester. Do I have to still send my HS transcript?

It's up to you. If you have less than 24 college credits, we require a 3.0 GPA in your college coursework, PLUS a high school GPA over 90, PLUS a Reading/Math SAT combined score of at least 1150. If your high school grades and SAT/ACT scores are good, then send 'em. If not, you might want to wait until you get your spring grades at your current school, then send us those scores as soon as you have them. If you have any questions, contact us via the Web or call on Monday.

Hi Chris,

I just applied online because the deadline says March 1st, so I wanted to get my application in before the deadline and I won't be receiving my spring grades for some time. I wish to be enrolled for Fall 2007 and have a GPA of 3.753 for last fall semester. So, what you're saying is, the choice of submitting my HS transcript and SAT scores is optional? Is it OK if I already submitted my application with my current college status? Can I be considered for admission (and receive an admissions decision) or will SBU need my spring grades?

By the time I enroll, I will have 30 credits

Thanks in advance.

the deadline is march 1st? I sent in the regular SUNY app, but I am also applying to the honors college using the paper transfer app, and it says that it is due may 1st. Can you explain the honors transfer process?

Jonathan - With less than 24 credits, we'll need you to either submit your HS stuff, OR wait until you complete your spring coursework. If you only send us fall, we'll ask for one or the other before making a decision. I don't think it'll matter either way in terms of time; we have a lot of students for whom we're asking for spring grades, so you're certainly not alone. Worst case -- as soon you get grades, even if they're unofficial -- bring them in, so you can get in and get registered for orientation and housing and whatever.

ckmets - I wish I knew more about the Honors College transfer process, but I don't. You'll want to contact them directly, as they're the ones who make those decisions. We'll admit you to the university, then they make their HC decisions after that. Call them on Monday at 631-632-4378.

...and Let's go Mets!

Is it ok if I already submitted the online application? Can they hold the application for me and in the meantime I submit my fall grades, then when spring grades come, I send those?

Is it good that I sent in my app. now? I am confused because it says the deadline was March 1st. for Fall 2007 admission, so I sent in my application now.

That's fine that you submitted now. We'll hold it one way or the other; we won't make any decision with just one college semester. If you want, shoot me an e-mail and I'll stick a note in your file so we know to wait. The March deadline is a recommended deadline; we will close admissions some time this summer, so we want to make sure folks have their stuff in early.

Hello I am 18 with 60 college credits and my associates degree, my GPA is 3.5 and I just got a letter from SB asking for SAT scores and proof of HS graduation. I did not take the SAT because my school didnt require them and I missed the day to take the test. Do I need to send it in still? I mean I have enough accomplished at my age, and I’ve done volunteer and internships on top of my academics
