Stony Brook Fall 2014 accepted/rejected

Both my boyfriend and my best friend still haven’t received their decisions yet and they’re both transfers. They applied at the end of January.

Don’t think so Yaatos, because my son recently applied at the end of February as a transfer, and got the same Fafsa email from Stony Brook. Good Luck!

I got in with a 3.5 and 2110

Waitlisted. S very upset.

Tell him that there is still hope lilaw, a waitlist isn’t a rejection.

Decisions for Fall 2014 transfer applicants are rolling out starting today. Expect it in the coming weeks.

Awsome Sauce, you were tight. He was accepted today.

Patience is a virtue. Good luck.

@AwsomeSauce‌ I have a 3.7ish and a 1600 SAT. I also volunteer @ SBU in radiology. What are my chances?
And lilaw, what did your son have?

My son had a 3.2 and a 28 ACT

@AwsomeSauce‌ You there?

@lilaw88‌ What do you think my chances are with a 1600 SAT and a 3.7 GPA. As mentioned above, I also volunteer at the SBU Hospital in the Radiology Department. I have 100+ hours of community service as well. I’d really appreciate any help/info! Thank you…

@lilaw88‌ @AwsomeSauce‌ @ivyswan741‌ anyone?

I got in last year as a transfer in the spring with a 3.8 , my boyfriend got into fall semester with a 3.3 and my friend got in with a 3.0. They were all sophomore standing going into there junior year. That’s if your transfer

Connetquot, I think your GPA is fine but your SAT scores are low. Try to retake them or take the ACT. Generally, the people who hear first are the shoe-ins. Their test scores and GPA exceed the median. The ones who meet one criteria but not the other don’t hear until March.

@lilaw88‌ Thanks for your response. I see. Did your son/daughter get any scholarships? And do they usually give scholarships to those accepted in the later months?

Accepted
OOS
2170 SAT
3.9 UW GPA
but no mention of a scholarship?

@Krish400158, how were you notified of your acceptance?

snail mail @simuni

@lilaw88‌ Can you please post your son’s stats so I can get an idea of how the admissions are made? I believe that your son was waitlisted and later accepted?

He was waitlisted and then accepted three weeks later in the first batch of acceptances. 28 ACT 3.2 GPA 33 college credits including 6 APs and lots of ECs including leadership positions.
